And basically DROOLED on and eye-raped by brown Spanish speaking men! Is this a cultural thing or are these guys just incredibly rude or are they doing it on purpose to bother them?!! As a man I get either a blank stare or a mildly dirty look. But every woman I know reports that every Latin man she sees just STARES very SEXUALLY, very BLATENTLY. They've evn done it right in front of me and it makes me want to bust heads! What is the deal.

"we are not racist but, "
yes, you are racist.

Good god man... I can't understand at all how racism still exists... but I seem to be running into people like you more and more.

Maybe I'm just naive because I'm young, but when I was in school, I thought that racism was a thing of the past that ended in the Civil Rights movement, and that we are all united - but then my family moved to the south - and I see racism all the time, everywhere.

Please - just grow up and realize that there is no such thing as race - and whenever you want to start a statement with "I am not racist, but" then it is most likely going to be a racist statement... Why else would you need to say that you are not a racist, if the statement is not going to be a racist statement... for example, no-one would say, "I'm not racist, but the sky is cloudy" ... the phrase I'm not racist, but - always leads to some ignorant, racist statement in the form of 'this race does this'.

I don't think you realize that you are, indeed a racist, but I can tell by the fact that you said "we are not racist", that you want people to think that you are not racist, and therefore that you do realize that racism is bad - so I'll tell you how not to be racist: Stop categorizing people by race, categorize them instead on an individual basis.

And a tip, if you feel like you are about to say something that you feel like needs to be prefaced with "I'm not racist, but" then don't say it... instead think about it.

Don't take offense please, but I doubt your family is the hottest thing on the planet. Let me guess... " I was innocently walking by the construction site in my dental floss bikini and I just can't understand why they said those things to me..." HAHAHAHAH

Yes, I know - extreme example - but the philosophy is the same. Just don't go places where the people make you uncomfortable. Maybe they are doing it just to make you uncomfortable because you seem to be a family that clearly would appear bigottous as they walked down the street.

As for the culture, each is different. Most Latin cultures are similar in that they are machismo based and see the words and looks as a compliment that more secure women in Latin cultures see as compliments. You think the Hispanics are bad ehe? Try Italy... the men will actually grab your woman right next to you.

You react as you want but it seems silly to me that you go places you know you will experience this. Maybe on some level it doesn't really bother you that much.

Honestly? I think it might be a cultural thing, I had the same problem in India and also in Malaysia but only from the Indian men there.
I hated it, and im not a supermodel by any means, I asked an indian friend and he said it was acceptable to 'flirt with the eyes' as it was the only way they could flirt in his culture
Personally I found it offensive adn felt like I was being raped everytime I left my hotel.
I can only imagine how it feels ot have ur little girl looked at that way
But I was in their country so....
I also think there's a bit of them not respecting women of other races

I think it's their culture but I've been looked at provocatively by some black and white men and I'm a black woman but more so by hispanic men. Although I really dig the hispanic culture the men do need to put their tongues back in their mouth. Even though I'm married I've seen men who I tried not to drool over so it happens to everyone of us not just the hispanic males.

Maybe you should stop worrying about such minor actions of one certain race. And I don't think your sister or your wife are upset because another man finds them attractive I don't care what color they are. Women like to feel pretty and attractive to other men even if their Married and more so if their single. It's not that they are lusting after the man. It's just nice to know another man or men find your pretty. Get over it.

where I live I have condos under me and on the side of me nothing but Latin men and there is just one (who I am friends with his wife sis-n-law and daughter) stares at me as if he want it (BAD) only when I am alone, when I am with my Fiance' he doesn't even speak to me, from my experience they all have a weird sense about them is that why there wives are jealous?

well i hate to tell you that its not just Latinos.. it is every man who finds it necessary to stare at any young girl or woman like they have never seen one before..No don't get me wrong..i am not saying all men..no way.. Some men just do not care...i have been so close to knocking there heads right off of them... it has gotten to the point that my daughter does not like to go into the gas station by herself anymore...because of some of these people..sometimes we will go out of our way to another gas station down the street just so we avoid the stares.. and that is from every race......

Personally,I think it's cultural.I don't think they think highly of women,so they think it's OK to look at them as just meat. The older men seem more respectful, but the younger guys just make me cringe sometimes.I'm not racist, myself, but someone does need to explain to them that we do not find it flattering or acceptable.I don't think they mean any harm by it.

Dude, that's normal. If you think you are normal, then go bust their heads, and see what happens to you.

Heterosexual men check out pretty women. Educated ones do it more discretely, that's all. Educated people also don't "bust heads"

Oh yeah, that's not racist, categorizing every man who stares at the women of your family sexually as Spanish speaking.

The women of your family seem pretty full of themselves for saying that men "eye rape" them and drool over them.
