I have used Iolo's System Mechanic 6. It comes with a free 30 day trial period - all features are functional during the trial period. It is a powerful tool but I had some problems with it. It added several startup programs and processes to my PC, which slowed my computer's performance. My PC isn't new but it isn't old either. System Mechanic tries to do too much and feels bloated. It claims to optimize Windows performance but it uses so much resources that it is counterproductive. PC World gave it a thumbs up. I would recommend that you download and try System Mechanic 6 before deciding to purchase it. I am using Tuneup Utilties 2006 and it is vastly better than System Mechanic. TuneUp also has a 30 day trial period as well (http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/).

Below is the link to PC World's review article:

Nicely priced utility software cleans and optimizes your PC." -- written by Ramon McLeod (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,125244-page,1/article.html)

Stick with programs that work.
Adaware SE for spyware protection
a2 (a squared) for spyware and antivirus (you can run 2 antivirus programs)
AVG Free Edition for primary antivirus protection
FireFox for internet browsing and safe from popups and other stupid crap.

These programs work and are all free. Im so tired of fixing peoples spyware problems and these are programs that prevent it. No need to spend money on System Mechanic 6.
