how long does advantage kill fleas on a dog?

Advantage is supposed to work for a month and it does not kill the fleas it steralizes them.If you need to get rid of the fleas right now i would get a dosage of capstar from your vet it will kill every flea on them. Then to prevent the fleas switch to frontline its way better. If you have a flea problem you might have to fumigate the house??hope this helps...

I use Advantage exclusively on my dogs and cat (three of each). They are outside animals in a hot, humid, wet climate. I only apply it every two months and haven't seen a flea since I started using it several years ago.

The TECHNICAL time is "up to 4 weeks", as noted on the package. It is still effective after swimming,bathing,and rain.
If you have a heavy infestation, you can reapply after 2 weeks. If you start early enough in the season, you can do it every 6 weeks and avoind the infestation. I have been doing that for 5 years. Start in May and go through November....ever 6 weeks.
