i just have a good idea for holloween... i know he will probobly at least chew it up... but will he get sick if he eats it?

No your bird will not get sick if he eats it. Newspaper will help you clean the birdcage easier.
Most of the time birds do not eat it but just tear it up with their beaks. It usually drops back into the bottom of the cage.

Paper is fine to use in a bird cage, but I try to avoid pages that have a lot of colored ink because of the warnings. My birds tear it up but it gives them something to do to avoid boredom. Some adult breeds also try to build nests from it. Why not let them have a little fun?

I used to raise birds and had always been advised not to use any paper from newspapers that was colored. Also, never use magazine paper that is slick (it is covered with kaolin (clay) and can stick to the bird's feet. Better to buy the sand/grit paper to use on the bottom. Why not ask a vet?

I use newspaper on the bottom of my canaries cage all the time
the female will shred it to make nesting material but no ill effects
have ever happened because of the paper.

birds usually just shred paper.. not eat it. if it is a type of paper that has oil based ink, then he may get sick if any sticks to his beak & he ingests it. nowadays, newspaper is not made with oil based ink

It will be a lot easier for you to clean the cage,, will not affect the bird. Surely you aren't gonna feed it to him?
