How would you feel if your parents and sister never showed up for your daughters Baptism they only live an hour away. My sister figured the casino was a better place to be. And my parents were having a deck put on there house. How many of you would be ready to explode?

I'd be friggin annoyed. Dunno how to handle it -- because my family had wacky feuds in my extended family when growing up and it was horrible. People don't talk to each to this day -- my siblings and I vowed never to let this happen. In the moments that work best for me (which i don't always do), the best thing is: I sit and try to get my anger out of the way, trying to get my expectations and desire for a grudge out of the way -- all by looking at my thoughts. Then I think of the people who hurt me in a positive way -- thinking of SOMETHING that is positive in them and concentrating on that for a few minutes. Once I have a positive perception of them, I act from there -- which may be letting it drop or calling them and letting them know that I really like their company and felt disappointed that they didn't come. Whatever -- the key is to get the anger and negative perceptions away so that clear action can come.

I would be angry and upset. It's too bad that your family members had "other plans" and couldn't be there for you.

I hope you had some other guests who were happy to share such an important day with you and your family.

Have you spoken to your parents and sister about this? Have you told them how upset and disappointed you are? I don't think it will change anything, but at least you can let them know your feelings.

Naturally I would feel bad, but you're doing what is best for your daughter and that should be # 1 in your life.We are all born into sin and being Baptized is important. Your family obviously doesn't feel as strong about god as you do, but don't let their attitude change yours. Keep the faith and stay true to God!

I would be pretty mad but the most important person was there God and he saw the whole thing. Just explain to your daughter that the most important person was there and you were there and everything else really doesn't matter.
They missed out on a beautiful experience not you or your daughter, one day they will truly regret it.

I would ask my family why I and my baby were worth so little to them that they could not be bothered to take the time to be there for a very special day.

I would also pray very much for them since it seems obvious that they have the wrong perogatives.

Money over God and family.

I think I will pray for them, and you, anyway.

God bless.

Is this about your daughter's Baptism, or is about your place in the family pecking order?

I would feel very bad too. But try to remember one thing, you have your own family now and even though it hurts you to be snubbed like that, at least try to focus on YOUR family. They are the ones missing out.

Right ON! I'd be so ticked I'd want to pour glue in all of the slot coin holes. I'd want to pull all the nails out of the deck.
Oh - wait: they are the one's who loss out and they are the ones who need to be pitied. So I wept instead.

I would be disappointed, but its a waste of energy to explode. My family has done worse.

Sounds pretty lousy to me. I would have been terribly hurt, as well. Sorry that happened to you. Be the better person and keep your cool.
