Muslims fast for a month during ramadan (sp?). This doesn't mean they don't eat. It means that the refrain from eating between the hours of sunrise and sunset. Once the sun has gone down the fast is over until the following morning. This type of fasting is not harmful to the bones providing 1) you are in good health to begin with (In the muslim culture, young children, the ill,and very old are not expected to partcipate in fasting) 2) That you eat a nurtitious diet in those periods when you are not fasting.
If you don't eat at all you will die. If you don't eat a nutionally sound diet you are likely to suffer from malnutrition which can results in various forms of illness depending on what vitamins and/or minerals are missing from your diet.

No there is no damage to us Muslims who fast for a month..it is not a month like you think our fasting is from sunrise to sunset...most of us do not "pig out" when it is time to break our fast..we usually can only eat a small amount. The only rules of this is...you can skip fasting if you are old, sick, pregnant or traveling. But for everyday we miss..it has to be made up..and if that is impossible to be done then we have to give food to unfortunate people for everyday..which would be 30....the reason for the fast is so we can feel like the unfortunate ones...

NO, fasting is not bad for the bones or the body. The Christian community is not faithful enough, in general, to set aside a day and fast and pray for anything as was the common thing many did earlier in the existence of mankind. We are to use prayer and fasting when we are really interested in fulfilling God's will. God/Christ would not condone this if it were so unhealthy. ALTHOUGH, fasting of muslims is NOT fasting.

What "muslims" fast for a month? However, if you don't eat let's say for a day or two, you may get hungry. A hundred things you can get if you don't eat right or at all in this case. Oest... is not likely. Atleast not for that reason anyways

Well , I'm pretty sure they only fast from sunrise to sunset, then they pig out at night I think.
Yeah, long periods of fasting can be bad for you. People, especially aging women should eat things with lots of calcium: pills, spinach, meats, milk, etc.
fossimax if needed too

Yes, if you do a complete fast, it is bad for the bones. However, if you are allowed to drink milk or have a vitamin supplement, then it would be OK.

I fast for about one week every two months.
Everyone was bugging me about the health issues that this might bring up.
I went to my doctor and asked him about this.
He said that fasting was not dangerous at all so long as you kept your self hydrated.
He said that it may actually be a healthier choice for someone who is over weight.
This may be different for women, I don't know anything about that.
Love and blessings

Muslims don't fast the way you're thinking. They eat one meal a day. At least that's what I was told.
