I received an email from a friend today and my friend was always under the impression that evolution says we evolved from monkeys/apes. I corrected her by telling her it says we have a common ancestor. What is the cause of this massive lack of information about basic evolution?

Its a common bit of propaganda that is repeated when creationists try to ridicule evolution. The sad thing is that most people who repeat the propaganda don't understand that it is propaganda -- they honestly think it is a valid argument. But the worst thing is that the question has been asked here many times, and often the asker ignores good answers and chooses an answer from another creationist who reinforces the misconception.

the fact of the matter is that evolutions "Common Ancestor" was supposedly, by my most peoples idea of, an APE or MONKEY or any other Primate. It Looks like one in almost every way. Hairy, hands for feet, and a wierd looking face.

Though this strange and elusive creature is in every way similar to an APE, evolutionists debate this and say that APES came from it.

This is the explanation is given when one asks why Apes are still around when, If evolution is to be true, then NATURAL SELECTION (the very foundation of evolution) would have weeded them out because they were weaker.

I Have yet to decide if Natural selection is in fact a "FACT" as species, while they do compete against their own, compete far more agressivly with others... and any group of life is stronger in some way to another no matter how "Unevolved" they seem to be...

When Darwin proposed the Theory of Evolution, religious leaders from around the world found it in direct conflict with their dogmas. Their reaction was to take a part of the theory in which they believed they could create controversy with, and elaborate with the specifics. They got a lot of dumb people to believe that Darwin said we evolved from apes.

Because they are ignorant, the common theory is that we evolved from similar hominids or the same hominids that apes and monkeys evolved from.

I would like Nose pike to tell us who this Black man named "dummy" is.

Many people believe it because it is the easy way and people like easy. Allthough it is easier to believe than some omnipotent fairytale guy up in some clouds came along and just put us here.

Because monkeys and humans are primates. And people think that since humans came from primates and monkeys are primates, then humans came from monkeys.

It doesn't make sense, but the Creationists aka Intelligent Design Proponents don't make sense either.

Go to Alabama and look at all the rednecks in overalls holding shotguns and you will know why people think we evolved from apes.
