Depending on where you live each city or county you live in should have a vital records office. Look in your phone book for state or local government, there should be an number for vital records and they can tell you where your closest one is.
As long as you were born in the state where you live you can go to ANY vital records office in the state you were born and get a birth certificate.

If you were born in Canada a birth certificate is applied for you at the hospital, the mother completes the forms when you are born. All births are registered with Vital Statistics Canada. You may go to any Registries Agency but shop around as it is now privatized and charge different prices. If you don't know where the closest registry office is to you, go to the Provincial or Territories government website and you can search with your Postal Code.

A certificate from the branch of well being is amazingly diverse from an respectable beginning certificate. I discovered that the confusing way in California 10 years in the past. because i did not have the unique beginning certificate I had to purchase a replica from the state the position i develop into born. The Cali DMV develop into high quality with that, and it develop into common.

It would depend on the state you live in. I live in New Jersey and I know that we can go to the town we were born in to get a birth certificate, to the clerk's office, unless there is a problem then we need to go to Trenton (state capitol) to where they keep ALL Birth certificates for the state.

I know to get one in my state you have to go to the state capital to some building where they keep all that stuff. You can also request one online and you fill out an application and mail it to the state capital along with a fee.

You probably have to write to/go to the city in which it was filed. You do not have to go to the capital. Chances are it's in the city that's the county seat of the county you were born in, in the office of vital records.

Usually all you have to do besides pay a nominal fee, is go to the city hall of where you were born or contact them via phone or writing to get a copy of it.

try searching for your state agencies online. most states have an office of vital statics. You will have to pay though to get the certificate, but usually it's not too expensive.
