The ones who don't know also won't care unless they wake up in a theocracy one day, where they find out they can't get a job or credit or alot of the things that they take for granted if they end up in one of the " undesirable" groups. And the ones who know and care can't get anything passed because of a very vocal minority of voters who have recently taken a great deal of our system over. Of course there are also that group that want this country to be a Christian theocracy, who in fact believe it was always supposed to be and they are voting in greater and greater numbers for whatever they're told to in church, and at the same time the rest of the society(the sane people) are voting in lower numbers and are more divided over issues than ever,so who wins? George Bush is a prime example of why this whole Christian revival taking place in our political system is dangerous, but as long as the rest of us are divided they will win.

Yeah, this country was built on Christian beliefs and people came here for the freedom to worship how, where or what they may.
Yes, under God was put into the pledge in the '50's and in God we trust wasn't always on the money, but over 81% of population of this country believe in God. We worship God, the others are trying to make the believers live by the unbelievers code.
If you don't like God in our country, then move to some country that doesn't have God. Then see what a mess it is!!!
God Bless America, May He ALways be here!!!!!!!

A lot of people commented to what I wanted to say but to one particular post that said that this nation was founded on Christianity and that we should live in other Godless nations if we didnt like the US....
The constitution says seperation of religion and state. If you aren't comfortable with people trying to keep it that way, maybe YOU should move.

In 1954 I was in the fourth Grade and some people came into my classroom for the pledge. God was added, I couldn't wait to go home and tell my mom. It was one of the proudest days of my life.

I don't know why - I guess nobody ever told me. I remember when I found that out I was pretty surprised! I had always assumed that the word God was always on the money and in the pledge because nobody ever told me otherwise!

Because the issue of the pledge has been recent in the past few years. It's not something anyone had a problem with til some wackos decided they wanted God taken out of the pledge.
Andddd...it was never taught in school (at least not during my school years).

Because people don't read on their own, because public education serves the government and so leaves those tidbits out, and because the majority of people are too lazy to question their surroundings.

Because most ppl are lazy and only want to believe what is comfortable for them and what suits their personal agendas. It is sad and has allowed our nation to become a theocracy.

The pledge itself is not even acceptable to God. Since when does God want you to pledge alliegence to a Flag or country more then to himself?
