I found this recipe in my mom’s recipe box. I have no idea how she came by, but I know this was the house dressing for a restaurant called The Limestone Castle
I don’t know if the restaurant is still there. I do remember the salad dressing was great.
LIMESTONE DRESSING
1/2 Cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 cups salad oil
1 tsp. paprika
1 small onion
1/2 cup catsup
1 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Put all ingredients in blender except the celery seed. Blend until well mixed. Add
celery seed before storing in a covered jar. Can be made with a mixer by chopping the onion very fine first. This is much like a French dressing. It will not separate and will keep indefinitely in the refrigerator.
Make about 2 1/2 cups of dressing.

Title: French Dressing Categories: Yield: 1 Servings 1/2 c Salad oil Little scraped onion 1/4 ts Mustard 1/2 ts Paprika 1/2 ts Salt Little pepper 1 ts Sugar or honey 2 dr Worcestershire 2 tb Lemon juice Mix all ingredients together and beat well. Or you can put into a covered jar and shake hard until blended. Keep in a cold place. A milder dressing may be made by omitting the onion, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. The seasonings are a matter of personal preference. Instead of lemon juice, you may wish to use cider vinegar; or for a pleasant change, tarragon vinegar. Always serve French dressing cold. Title: Cooked Salad Dressing Categories: Yield: 1 Servings 1/2 c Sugar 3 tb Flour 1/2 ts Mustard 1 ts Salt 1/2 ts Paprika 1/8 ts White pepper 2 Eggs; beaten well 1/2 c Vinegar 1/2 c Water 1/4 c Butter; melted Mix dry ingredients thoroughly. Beat eggs in the top of a double boiler and add dry ingredients. Add vinegar and water slowly, stirring to keep the water smooth. Stir and cook until dressing is thick and smooth, about 10 minutes. Add the butter and mix well. Cool and store in the refrigerator. Use on potato, vegetable or mixed fruit salads. Ingredients: • 1 cup Wild Blueberries • 1 cup Cranberries • 1 cup Blackberries • 1 cup Prunes • 1/2 cup Raspberries • 10 Strawberries • 2 Red Apples • 2 cups Sweet Cherries • 1 cup Black Plums • 2 Bananas • 2 tsp Sugar • 2 tsp Lemon Juice • 3 sprigs Fresh Mint How to make Healthy Fruit Salad: • Wash all fruits and mix together after cleaning, peeling, cutting into pieces and so on. • In a separate bowl, add sugar, lemon juice, water and fresh mint. Mix, then pour on the fruit. • Mix up the fruit salad really well, to incorporate all of the wonderful colors of your fruits.

Look in your pantry or fridge, and start designing. Do you have juice and oil? You have a tasty dressing. I like to use orange juice or apple juice and mix it with a little lime juice for tanginess. Add some honey if you want it sweeter. Pepper, salt if you desire, garlic for sure, and I would throw some cayenne in it too. Mix that all together, and you have good eats. Also, grated ginger goes well in dressings. 1000 Island is a bad college experiment with condiments already in the fridge- mayo, relish, and ketchup. Ew. Liven up life, use juice or fruit!
