Secrets to life:

Don't try and be perfect, be human.
Love
Don't be hard on yourself
Try to be better than you were yesterday
Help others when you can
Don't ever hold anyone else back intentionally
Work on your faults and shortcomings
Have a sense of humor
Don't be afraid to take risks
Failure is part of life and learning
Keep an open mind
Experience all of your emotions
Rationalize your fears and overcome them

Whatever work is left for us to accomplish in our souls we will get to in the next life, so do not fear. There is no reward or punishments, that I sense. Only choices WE make. Some that walk the Earth are just more enlightened than others, so their paths are different in the afterlife. But we all have a major part to play.

Only a "little flock" of Christians are awarded heavenly life. It is a reward not easily attained. The apostles were given that reward, but look at all the things they suffered to receive it. Read the book of Acts and you will see how difficult it is to be faithful till the end.
What does one need besides faith to become selected as one of the "little flock"? James 2:17 tells us--"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." God requires that we work at being faithful.
and at Matthew 24:13-14--"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."
Christians must endure hatred and persecution and help preach to others about God's Kingdom. Only then, can they hope to become co-rulers with Jesus in his Father's Kingdom.

You say in heaven like it is something that can only happen in the future.

Each of us is a part of God. God is heaven so we have never actually left.

We reward ourselves, as we become closer to God in our thoughts. He is already as close to us as anything can get.

Jesus said that the kingdom of the father is within us. This means that She can not be found on a far off cloud called Heaven Or in a building called a church.

The bible says we will. For believers, we will be rewarded for what we did on earth, because we will be standing before the judgment seat of Christ. Those who do not believe in Christ will stand before the great white throne judgment, where the only judgment will be.......lost forever.
