In the summer it looks like raised pinkish spots and the rest of the year it is whitish spots but not raised and it almost looks like scars at this point. I can't get him to go to the dr. Also in the summer it does not tan. Is it an allergic reaction? He also said it started after he got into the heating and air conditioning business. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have him get to the dermatologist. I know he will be embarrassed by it, but it is for the best. Obviously he is reacting to something in his environment and in the HVAC business he will most often sweat a great deal under his shirt (tough job). Sweat and overheating of the body will sometimes cause the abdomen, inner thighs, and sometimes on the back as well to break out.

Look at it like to body overheats and tries to sweat but the small pores in these areas of the body often clog. This can cause small blockages that can literally be hard at the surface of the skin where the pores are. Sometimes calcium deposits are also formed causing similar break-outs. When he overheats usually a red and sometimes painful or irritating rash will break out and last for up to 2 weeks. In the off seasons the blockage is still there and will still be there... just not red.

Until he see a doctor keep him hydrated with water, do not take hot showers- he will want hot showers because it makes it feel better, but that only dehydrates more. Use a topical steroid like hydrocortisone cream and try to get him to the Doctor while he is flaring up.

This is pretty common in construction trades when the worker has sensitive skin and small pours. tell him to drink waaaaay more water.

This is not guaranteed to be the problem, but I have seen it before and hopefully you will be able to diagnose this quickly

How long has he had this? It could be a form of skin cancer, given the heating and air conditioning exposure. I know how he feels about doctors. "Save me from the healers" is my motto. However, he should do what I'm loath to do - go see a doctor. It's probably nothing, but since you indicated that it is spreading, I think your husband should just go see a doc. If it is something serious, the sooner you get it treated the better. Maybe show your husband this response? Again, I hate going to see a doctor too. Mostly I don't want to hear any bad news. Who would?

Maybe he is allergic to dust mites. He would be exposed to a lot in the air ducts of the houses he is working in. He will need to see a doctor to get tested for allergies. Then the doctor will be able to determine if he needs any medications or allergy shots.

The only thing I can think of is shingles, but that's generally on only one side of the body (can be right or left, starting in center of stomach and wrap around to the center of the back.)

But it probably isn't. Just the first thing that came to mind.

Wow, that's scary! He should definitely see a doctor. You never know. I'm wondering if it could be psoriasis. Are the white patches scaly?

Too many possible causes. He should go to the doc for testing. It could get more serious if left untreaded.
