Probably a pattern that you like pleasant sugary tastes more than strong ones. A cooked onion, in a doughy ring, is very mild and the sugars come out in cooking making it sweet.
A tomato is not naturally sweet, unless they are really good homegrown ones, but ketchup is 28% sugar.

Ketchup is like a liquid tomatoe except with about a hundred extra ingredients. And onion rings don't taste like onions at all. They are fried, afterall.

You're not alone.
I love onion rings, but pick out plain, large, onions from meals.
I enjoy ketsup, but ask for no tomatoes on salads.
It's just how the world turns, IMO.

I only enjoy eating onions when they're cooked. I don't mind tomatoes - home grown are the best.

No, but it's just how your taste buds work. Apparently, you like things if it has something else to go with it. It makes sense I suppose. I mean... first there's a biscuit... but then there's a biscuit with honey and butter which sounds much better than just a biscuit. There's not a problem at all. You just have different taste.

It does seem like a pattern, has it ever crossed your mind that you may like these vegetables cooked that what it seems like to me. Cooking the vegetables changes the taste of them.

I think you like the breading on the rings more. There is also lots of sugar, salt, and other things in ketchep. Same thing with me and cheese. I hate cheese by itself, but putsomething with it and its great.
