At midnight last night I was on the computer trying to think of a name for my son that is due in Feb. It's been driving me nuts I like to have my name picked out. I had considered Davin, Tray, Michah and I like Logan as someone suggested. But I decided on Braedon Cael. Weird? It's Celtic. I like it. Feel free to use it lol. Tristan is nice too. The other name I had picked out was Conner Keith. For sure don't go with Axel. The other names are not weird. Unique is so much better than traditional.

Well it doesn't really matter what I think (I personally don't like one of them... although Tristan is the best of the group)

Dateline or 20/20 just did a story on names... especially of the ethnic variety which the names above appear to have a special ethnic flair to them. Their studies show that names (the unusual ones and black sounding names like you've selected) were less likely to be called for job interviews despite qualifications.
While yes I'm disappointed in the study and hope that by the time your child is applying for jobs equality is achieved- I think it is something to consider.

best wishes to you.

Remember, while I don't like those names, you are going to be calling that child's name so many times (screaming it a lot too) test it out around the house.

I thought I liked the name Ethan until I heard my neighbor yelling it all of the time and it just wore me out... (the name not the child) I could just tell that some names I liked but I knew I wouldn't like in 5-10 years. I think a lot of the trendy names will go that way.

I like Leo but all the other ones are spelled so strange. Tristan sounds feminine, Jaedon is also used as a girls name and Axel is dark. It would be a pain for you to always correct people on pronouncing and spelling most of these. When your child gets older, he will forever be correcting also. Such a hassle. You want a name that is unique, uncommon for individuality and simple for others.

I also wanted unique names for my children- especially because my parents have a habit of changing names to a "y" on the end, which I hate (my sister's kids went from Robert to Robbie, Alexis to Lexie, Samantha to Sammy, .....). I want my children's names to be used as they were given. My husband made it tough, but we did OK. I didn't worry about what other kids would think. Doesn't matter what a child's name is- kids have a unique ability to find some way to tease a child about their name. I simply talk to my girls about how it would sound if a grown-up used some of the names I was called as a kid. My 7-year old says "It's ridiculous." We talk about how it sometimes upset me as a child, but doesn't matter anymore. The person doing the name-calling is the one who looks silly. Anyway, my favorite on your list is Jaedon. I also like Davin. Good luck. It's good to be original!

I love them all except for Axel. It reminds me of an axis or something, and I wouldnt want to know that if you named a baby that, that when it got older, the kids in his class thought the same thing, and they made fun of him. I REALLY like Jaevon

Well I dont think you should abandon your mexican heritage completly. Dont forget that your family is going to have to be able to pronounce the name also. My husband is mexican and we Which kinda frustrates him. We have a few friends that are hispanic and they named their sons...Sebastian and Julian, which are totally cute and not very common.

Jaedon is a wonderful name. Is not common so he will not be sitting in class with another kid with the same name (which is a good thing). Good luck with the pregnancy!
