Rinse potato, pat dry, cover w/ a little Kosher salt, wrap in foil. Bake @ 375 until when you push down on them your finger can make a nice dent easily.

Microwaving is the fastest way
the oven is the best way just grease the potato coat it in sea salt, wrap in foil and bake at 375 until potato test done this makes a nice fluffy texture.

you can also do them on the grill turning every few minutes. If I am using the charcoal grill I always toss some on after my meal is done to either make baked potato soup or to slice in a skillet and brown for breakfast the next morning, great with eggs

Scrub potato under running water to clean. Dry with a paper towel. Prick several times with a fork. Place potato on a square of aluminum foil, drizzle olive oil over potato and roll to coat. Sprinkle garlic salt and pepper over potato. Wrap aluminum foil over potato and bake in a 400 degree oven for 45-60 minutes.

Before you go wrapping that spud in foil is it a conventional oven or a microwave oven? In a microwave simply stab spud with fork a few times going deep - -- -- smear with smidgen of butter or olive oil - - set in microwavable bowl and zap on high for four to six minutes.

In a conventional oven or best a convection oven definitely wrap in foil after stabbing not so deep with fork and smearing with butter or oil or if your are carnivorus & not appalled bacon fat. Set in oven pre-heated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and cook at 400 to 425 for fifteen to twenty five minutes. Some people prefer lowerheat and longer cooking time!

In a convection timecooking is as quick as twelve minutes.

Peace ---enjoy

Perfect Baked Potato
Submitted by: CURLEEGIRLEE
"This baked potato has a crisp, golden skin, and is light and fluffy on the inside. Great comfort food!"
Original recipe yield: 1 serving.
Prep Time:1 Minute
Cook Time:1 Hour 30 Minutes
Ready In:1 Hour 31 Minutes
Servings:1 (change)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INGREDIENTS:
1 medium baking potato
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons butter
1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Scrub the potato, and pierce the skin several times with a knife or fork. Rub the skin with olive oil, then with salt.
Place the potato in the preheated oven, and bake for 90 minutes, or until slightly soft and golden brown. Slice the potato down the center, and serve with butter and black pepper. Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese over the top, if desired.

Variation:

For a treat, try slicing the very top of the potato off rather than slicing it in two, forming a 'lid'. Scoop out the fluffy contents of the potato, keeping the skin intact. Mix the potato in a bowl with butter, grated cheese and black pepper, then spoon the mixture back into the skin. Replace the lid and serve.

I like my baked potatoes with crisp skin, so I just scrub them real well and then poke each side a couple of times with a fork. Then I bake (no foil) them for about an hour more or less depending on the size of the potato, at 400 degrees. Yum!

FOR A MED.POTATO ABOUT 25-30MINUTES
WRAPPED WILL HOLD MOISTURE IN WHERE AN UNWRAPPED POTATO WILL DRY AND CRISP THE PEEL (this is my favorite, cause then -after i eat the potato with the toppings ! I-GOT THE SKIN FOR DIPPING IN MORE TOPPING'S ,AND A-1 SAUCE TO FINISH THE STEAK I JUST HAD !!!
IT ALL DEPEND'S HOW YOU LIKE THE SPUD !
WRAPPED OR UNWRAPPED !!!
AFTER 20-MINUTES PUSH A FORK/OR KNIFE INTO IT ! IF IT GOES IN WITH LITTLE PRESURE ,THEN ITS DONE ! IF IT DOESN'T THEN LEAVE ANOTHER 5-10-MIN'S AND TEST AGAIN !! AND I SAY NO ! IT DOES NOT TAKE ANY LONGER,IT TAKES LESS TIME TO COOK WRAPPED IN FOIL (MAKE SURE SHINEY-SIDE IN OK? )

Another trick so they,re soft on the inside is to cut them up in squares and boil them for 5 minutes before you put them in the oven .Bake them without foil paper and a bit of oil until they´re golden. Yummy!!

I have heard that if you skewer it with a metal skewer, it cooks from the inside and outside, making baking time shorter. However, I am impatient noramlly, so I prefer to clean it, poke holes in it and nuke it. I put it in for 3 minutes, flip it, 2 minutes, flip it, 2 minutes, and continue to flip and put in for a minute each flip after those. Unfortunately, this tends to give you hard ends, but the middle is good. baking it is really best. If you want soft, edible skins, rub butter all over it before you put foil around it. Good luck!

Poke it a lot with a fork and stick in your microwave for 8-10 minutes depending upon the size of the potato. If you don't have a rotating plate, rotate the potato a quarter turn halfway during cooking time. Enjoy!
