I used the Medela Pump in Style Advanced six times a day for nine months and never got milk in the tubing. Are you paying attention to the level of milk in the bottles? Maybe if you fill them too much you could get milk backing up into the tubes. Change bottles before they get too full. Good luck!

The milk doesn't go through the tubing on almost all pumps, medela brand or other wise. The tubes contain air, which creates the suction. The milk goes directly into the little bottle that you screw onto the bottom of the piece that you place onto your breast.

i have not used the Avent electric powered, yet i have used the guide. I own the avent guide and the medela pump in type. i like the medela. I used to pump with the medela, and characteristic my milk assemble into the Avent bottles. (the neck of the bottle would not in good condition onto the pump tho) i have heard better issues about medela,so as it truly is who i'd could bypass with. i have been very thrilled with my pump to date (i have used it for over a 12 months now, completely pumping) and it really is held up tremendous!

I didn't know any of them go through the tubing. But yes the medela breast pump doesn't go through the tubing. It works great.
