I would like to try a recipe calling for crushed Oreos - does it work better to scrape the cream filling away and just crush the cookies themselves, or is leaving the filling OK?

Put some cookies in a big ziploc bag, get all the air out of it, seal it and use a rolling pin on them until they are crushed to your desire.

you can leave the filling in, in fact, you should. If you took out the filling, it would just be chocolate cookies, not oreos. So leave the filling on and put them in a baggie. Get as much air out as possible. Then either use a rolling pin or frying pan to bash the little boogers to bits. A sturdy plate will also work. If you have a food processor, this would be fastest, or one of those Black and Decker drink mixers. I use mine for everything! Good luck.

Whats an Oreo without its cream filling? I use a plastic baggie and hammer. Makes a little more noise that way but it sure is fun and you can got a little frustration at the same time! Or you might even be able to buy them crushed now in the baking goods aisle at your local grocery store :) Happy Baking!

Usually, the food processor is the best choice (if you have one). Otherwise, put 'em in a big ziploc bag and beat 'em up with a rolling pin or some other heavy object. Either way, if the recipe calls for Oreos it means to use the whole cookie.

Leave the cream in the Oreos because remember? that's one of the best parts that everyone loves. I think the best way to crush Oreos is to put some in a Ziplock bag and take those things that pound meat and mash the Oreos while they are in the Ziplock bag then take them out. And TA-DA! crushed Oreos. =)

I like putting them in a gallon size zip lock freezer bag ( freezer bags are thicker), squeeze out as much air as possible. On a good, solid surface, lay the bag flat. Place a hand towel over the bag. Use a large can of food, rolling pin, hammer, or anything else you have handy that is heavy, solid and easy to handle to pound them. Shake and turn the bag periodically and replace total and beat some more until they are the way you want them.

if you need the filling then crush them right in the pack with your fists or blunt object. Or you can remove the filling and crush them in a zip lock to your desire.
Whatever it is, watch out for the crushed calories...it's the same!

i would keep the cream filling, stuff them into a ziploc bag, and roll with a rolling pin until they were crushed.

Put them in a ziploc bag (creme and all), get the air out, close the bag, and roll over them with a rolling pin.
