I have had pain in my heel for the last few months; however, recently, the pain has increased. I went to see a doctor but am not sure that i agree with his diagnosis as I am a health care professional myself. Any clues to why my heel may be hurting? I do not believe it is plantar fascitis as it does't feel like I am stepping on knives or toys, it just is painful in general. Please help.

There are so many things that can happen in our feet - best bet is to get a 2nd opinion as this is painful and I am sure time is important. Until you get there try to soak it in warm water, drink fluids and take some Motrin or Tylenol. Feel better :)

See if your doctor will take an x-ray of your foot. It could be a bone spur. The thing is that you have to keep complaining to the doctor about it even if they get tired of you because you are the one with the pain in your foot and they should be helping you to figure out the cause.

Also try soaking it in some warm water & Epsom Salts and then
propping it up on a pillow with a nice warm towel wrapped around it for awhile at least once a day or more......

I'm not sure if gout makes pain in the heel part of the foot but listen, I have Arthritis now and it does give me some pain in the heel of my foot as well as the ankle. But it took some pushing on my part for the doctors to even do the right tests to finally figure out what was causing it. X-rays finally located bone spurs. If you have ever injured that foot then the Arthritis can settle in to that area. That make it throb and ache especially when the weather is damp or rainy.

Also try to avoid high heels or tight shoes for awhile to let your foot rest. Also try wearing one of those inserts in your shoes if you can stand it.

Tennis shoes seem to help because they absorb shock.

There are some herbs like Yucca that seem to help. Also Lavender Oil and Tea Tree seem to help the pain. Just rub some on the area.

Hope your doctor works with you to figure it out.

I have the same thing, accept it is just an uncomfortable spot in my heel. I was going to go to the doctor, but I wasn't sure if it would help. I ice it, and usually the uncomfort goes away, but maybe you need to go to a medical store and buy heal lifters. They are like gel things and I wear them in my shoes to stop the pain. It sometimes depends on my shoe brand. Nike hurts, but adidas make less uncomfort, so if you recently have been wearing one pair of shoes for to long, then that may be it.

i work in a podiatrist office and it sounds like plantar fasciitis, however, was an xray taken to rule out calcaneal fracture? you may want to check into CT band syndrome also. try this informative website i found that includes a discussion forum with a doc, myfootshop.com. use the source as a direct link to site and good luck!
