The storebought ones just seem so impersonal. Would it be worth the time to make one?

Yes, I've been practicing Wicca for 10 years, almost 11, so my skills in circle casting and protection are fine. I know what I'll be dealing with, I just want something more concrete than a seance, like the one I held last night. Thank you for your concern, though, guys. (you know which ones you are.)

And yes, Fireball, I have a religion. It's called Wicca. And spirits are part of my religion, hence the question.

Grundoon, I'm plenty mature. Maybe YOU should grow up and realize other people have beliefs and experiences that differ from your own.

I made my own - has a crow and a horse and a pentagram on it. . It is round instead of square as well. Nothing fancy but I like it. Also have one of the store bought ones. Doesn't seem quite the same.

I feel that home made tools are better even if they are rougher looking as they come from you and represent your strengths.

It doesn't sound like a difficult project. A piece of thin plywood cut nice, some paint, a little imagination, more paint. If you like making stuff with your hands, you'll enjoy it.
I'd make mine about an 8footer, I like the feel of the long board, but I'm not really a trick rider.
Aloha.
Wait.
I just looked at the other answers. I got it all wrong. This isn't a surf board you're talking about. It's one of those dealies that people use to tap into thier subconscious minds and scare themselves because they can't make a conscious connection with where they're getiing all this crazy info, but they sense that it is close to them, yes, very close, uncomfortably so. The little hairs on the back of the neck stand up, and people walk away from the thing saying "Man! I don't know what that was, but it scared the s**t out of me!"
People who have meditated know: it's just a little something from the vaults of your own mental storage. I think I would be safe in saying that most humans have some feelings of fear or sadness or rage, maybe some supressed or misunderstood sexuality, abandonment issues, self-worth isuues and so forth that tend to lock some of that person's energy into a place that the person is not consciously aware of. Hidden in almost anyone's mind is a thing that we don't like to think about. Breeding ground for demons right there. Look out!
So I wouldn't do an 8-footer. 2 would do it.
May as welll let it out, just don't wonder where it came from, or question who is responsible for it. Own it.

I think any tool that we hand-craft for ourselves are well worth the effort. While you create you are imbuing them with your energy. Nothing bought can beat that.
I do have to agree with a few people that posted above. If you are not an experienced practitioner do not attempt this. These are not toys or something to experiment with.

i might think of that a selfmade Ouija board is only as efficient as a shop-offered one. it is purely somewhat cardboard made in a production unit, only like Monopoly and Clue. Do what you will possibly do with a "genuine" Ouija board. mild some candles and contact to the spirits.

if you have the knowlege and skill to use it safely, then I'd say a home made one is more likely to be effective.

but they can be very dangerous, so I wouldn't suggest it unless your skilled, and extremely dilligent in your circle casting and binding it and such.

Word of advice:DON"T USE ONE!!!!!!!Esp. a homemade one. I'm not one of those religious weirdos,I'm telling you I've had some questionable stuff happen in my experiences with them, and if I knew then what I knew now,I wouldn't have fooled around with one.

As with ritual tools, I believe the ones you make yourself are charged withe our energy so therefore the one you make will be better.

Make one yourself, babe. It'll have more energy, in tune with you, that way. :) Wood burning is a lovely way to do it, and it'll last for years to come, and can be a family Heirloom.

Blessings!

Can I ask you a question? Please tell me why you would want to mess with something that several people have told you to be careful with. I mean it sounds like they have a little experience with those things. Just what do you think controls those things that would make it dangerous. I don't want to sound mean or rude, I really think that you should take their advise. I am a Christian and believe that you are messing with the Devil. Please listen to the others who know!!
