It can be done, but doing it your self isn't easy. Your best bet is to
go to your local archery shop, often they will do it for free. Stay away from large chain sporting goods stores (Gander Mountain, Dick's, etc.), as the kids in there often know less than you.

Wax the strings, lubricate everything possible - trigger, safety, release mech, etc. Give a thorough "once over" visually checking for stress marks, chips, cracks, etc.
