I'm going to see him on Monday, so I'll ask him out after school then. He has no date, but he says after having the same crummy date three years in a row, he kind of gave up on homecoming in general, but he kinda sounded like he wanted to go out with me? What's the policy on last minute asking for girls? I hear about guys asking people out last minute, and girls asking guys out, but the combination?

Nope...if you are hot...he will be more than happy to go with you.
And if he made any kind of a hint to you...It was a plea to go with him to the dance. He was probably trying to act aloof when he said he was giving up on homecoming. He was trying to get you to give him some kind of go ahead.
It sounds to me that he is very interested in going with you. But he doesn't want to be rejected.
Try and just say something along the lines of ...
"So are you still boycotting Homecoming?
Cause I'm about at that point myself.... In fact, Ive decided that if you don't go with me I'm going to give up on it completely"
be sure to be smiling when you say it.... That should work out perfectly.
I hope that helps.
Good luck and have fun.

It's not at all too late. He will probably be very flattered that you asked him. I think guys say things like "I kind of gave up on Homecoming in general" because they don't want to feel crummy about not having a date.

My son is sitting here right now, waiting for his friend to come pick him up for Homecoming. They are going stag, but if a couple of girls had asked them out, they would have jumped over the moon! Both of them had a girl in mind to ask, but were afraid of being rejected or looking stupid, so they didn't ask. For all their macho-ness, guys are pretty sensitive at heart. He will appreciate your effort.

Hey lovey it is never too late. Just do it and stop worrying.
The worse thing that can happen is that he will say no. Then you go on to ask the next person or go to the homecoming by yourself.
There is no such thing as pollicy on this type of thing just common curtesy, respect for other people and good manners.

well it depends on if he has a date. if he has a date then you might as well forget it and just enjoy the party but if he doesn't have a date then by all means go for it. it's just like my friend always says, it's never too late if you really like the person.

you should really have gotten a date or asked this guy a month of at least 3 weeks ago, but it might too be too late, so try to ask him anyway. good luck!

well, the sooner you ask him, the sooner he has to order a tux, etc. and can go out and buy whatever he needs. ensure you ask him right away - why not tonight? call him ASAP....
