I have two 7 wk old kittens. I am concerned because all they do is nurse from mama cat and drink milk from a saucer. They won't eat any solids. Their sibling, who was adopted a couple of days ago, ate solid food just fine at around 5 wks. These two, however, won't touch their food. Should I just let it go? I'm concerned because mama cat has started to neglect them, as is her instinct..they'll be 8 wks on Monday.

Try moistening some dry food with some cat safe milk (the kind you can buy in the grocery store or pet store that is lactose free.) You can also try putting out some tuna water first, then slowly start adding tuna to the water over the days. They will first get used to the taste this way, then will start to try to eat the tuna. Make sure the tuna is in small bites. Also, if you've been putting out solid foods, make sure they are small enough for the kittens to eat. You can also try different kinds of moist foods. At this point, they are going to get excited about the smells of the moist food and try to eat it.

Do what desert_kat said! Stop giving milk asap! It can give them gass, diarreha, and a really bad tummy ache! They should be trying the kitten food you feed the Mom(you feed the Mom kitten food right? For the added nuetients the kittens are removing from her body) If they don't seem to like it add some water to soften it for them. Some kittens don't know what the dry food is, so maybe try some canned kitten food.

A kitten starts eating soft food about 2-4 weeks. They start solid food about 4-6 weeks. Although you should start them on soft food first... Or get solid food and put a little water in it. Good luck!

keep them from their mom and stop with the milk. try putting a little food on your finger into their mouth. too much milk is not good for them, they should be drinking water. 7 weeks and they should be on their own eating. Get the mommy SPAYED. At most shelters 75% or more of all kittens admitted are put to sleep. Friends of Animals have a low cost program, check with your local shelter there should be a low cost spay in your area. DO IT DON'T PUT IT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had this problem- and I had to feed my kitten baby cereal (mixed with milk and warmed) out of a dropper. She eventually came around and started eating solid food. If the problem doesnt improve, take your babies to the vet.

Start them out with mashed potatoes and some kitten chow but wet it down with some milk. best thing to do is stick their noses in it it may seem mean but they will get the idea. Ive had zillions of cats I know works with the potty training too. lol good luck.
