It is hard to straighten the back when you do it on your own because you can't see the back. Anyways, here is the procedure for sectioning hair for straightening:

You will need 4 duckbill clips/

It is better to apply hairstraightener cream or lotion to your wet hair at this time/

1. First, divide your head into two sections; the left section and the right section. Start at the middle of your hairline right above the forehead, and go all the way back to the end (the middle of the back of your neck.)
2. Divide each part (the left and the right) into two parts. Start on the top of your head, and go down to each ear.
3. You should have 4 parts in total now (2 on the front, and 2 on the back of your head.)
4. Wind up each part , and pin it up with the duckbill clip at the top of your head.
5. Start with the back first!
6. Unclip and unwind one back part (the left or the right), take 1 inch section of hair out at the bottom, wind up and clip the rest of them back on the top again. Straighten that first 1 inch section.
7. Do the same on the other part of your back.
8. Work like this on the back of your head, moving inch by inch sections from the bottom to the top of your head.
9. When the back is done this way, move to the front area of your head. Do the left or the right part first. Start from the bottom and move to the top, inch by inch sections, just like you did on the back.
10. Good Luck!

You section your hair making a part vertically down your hair and a part horizontally down your hair. you put a clip on each part to keep them out of the way while you're parting your hair. To see the back of your hair you'll have to feel or you can stand in front of a mirror while you're straightening, and sort of turn to the side to the point wear you can see the mirror and part of your hair at the back. Hope this helps you a little!

i have mixed blk/wht hair so i do this alot...split you hair in three sections....from the front view of your face.....split in three section left...middle ...right... then start by doing the middle first. You can start on the front and work your way to the back...I get to the back where i can not see...i take that hair and slide the iron down the hair till it reaches to my head... just keep doing that for each side....after doing all of it...i brush it out and feel were the bumpes are...then if you still can't reach it...blow dry it out....it will be good...try using a little oil or something to make the straightener easier to do....

I take my finger or a comb and section off a chunck of the bottem and use a clip to hold the rest of it up while I straighten it then continue letting it down in chucks. As far as the back of your head goes I would buy one of those little hand-held mirrors and stand backwards in front of the mirror that way you can check for wavy spots on the back of your head! Good luck!

i do the bottom layer first. then after that i take the middle layer and then i take the top layer....it's easy and it works for getting my hair straight even when i can't see it...
