Is it because they both hate jews? I am studying American Christians obsession with Adolf Hitler for my upcoming Theology class here in Yugoslavia. Why do American Christians idolize Hitler to such an extreme degree?

How retarded are you? I mean, are you "little yellow bus" retarded or are you just "idiot with a bucket of ignorance and no friends" retarded?

I am a Christian and I do not love Adolf Hitler. In fact, I think the world would have been better off without that self-serving hypocrite. Where in the world did you get such an ignorant idea from?

By the way, any Christian who hates Jews also hates Jesus -- so they wouldn't be a Christian at all. Jesus WAS a Jew. I'm not saying there aren't some out there (because I'm all too aware that the world is filled with stupidity) but I'm saying it's definitely not the norm.

Whoa! Hold it! You have made a very incorrect generalization.
I am an American Christian and my opinion of Hitler is that he was an evil dictator, a man with the spirit of anti-Christ and his horrible extermination of Jews was abominable.
I love Jews. I have Jewish friends whom I love very much. And I certainly do not idolize Hitler!
Plus, I know hundreds of American Christians who love the Jewish people. One couple I know has been involved with a ministry to help any of the Russian Jews who want to go to Israel. It is not an evangelical outreach. It is especially to help aid those who want to leave a place of potential persecution and go the their homeland. There are many such Christian groups who have great concern for the Jews in a world where others are focused on trying to destroy them.
I was only a baby when the holocaust occurred, but let me say, I am so sorry for what happened and that many in the world did not step up and do something to stop the carnage. It was uncategorically WRONG. From the depths of my own heart, I pray that you will find it in your heart to forgive those of us Christians who did nothing at the time. But, there are many of us who are really praying and trying to do something now to help Israel and the Jewish people. Bless you.

Where are you studying this to come up with such a bizarre conclusion? Americans generally revile Adolf Hitler for the monstrous things that he did. Sadly there are a handful here who think that he had the right of things...the American Nazi Party for one, and facist Skinheads for another. These people are not representative of Americans as a whole, and scarcely even have a voice in American politics.

Unlike in the Middle East where the nuts seem to rule the henhouse.

They do? All American Christians love Adolf Hilter? I don't mean to be rude but I think its silly when people use "textbook info" to generalize a whole group of people. Whether it be a whole race, relgious group, etc. In one of my classes during college, a textbook made all types of huge generalizations about minorities. African-Americans especially. Like we all live in single family homes, crave rap music, have photos of Martin Luther King Jr in our homes(don't know where he got that one from?!), and all kinds of other crazy things. I thought it was silly then and no offense but your questions seem just as silly. Before you ask a question such as this try getting to know some American Christians instead of making such a huge generalization based on what you studied in a class because it can't substitute for the real thing :)

Interesting project. I hadn't heard of this Hitler thing before, but there have been a number of these poll type questions lately regarding anti-semitism. I'll be watching to see how it goes. I was sure that Americans did not like Adolf Hitler, so this will probably come into play in the debate over whether or not the US is a Christian nation. My vote is that it really can't be- we're just too diverse for that- but we probably will have to make some basic morality agreements as a group.
Is the correct answer "because he first loved me..."
just guessing.

Christians are bound to love all men, just as God does, but to hate all sin. Hate the sin, love the sinner. That's how Christians are called to relate to others. All others. However I never knew anyone who "idolizes" such an evil individual as Hitler. Unless it was some misguided antisemitic extremist, in which case I would expect them to hate Jesus too. But Jesus still loves them, and we are called to do the same.

We love everyone, we don't have to like what they do.

We love people enough to pray for them, no matter what they do to us or say about us.

We also forgive Hitler for what he did, the same as we forgive what everyone does to us.

We do not condone what Hitler or anyone like him, such as Muslims, do against humanity.

Christians do not hate people, so when you see people claiming to be Christians but saying they hate someone, then know they are not a Christian.
