I am 24 years old and I am engaged here to an American girl, but I want to go home to Italy. I do not like it here.

The problem is that my Immigration paperwork is being processed, but in meantime my Italian passport expired, and the Italian Consulate will not renew it until I have legal American papers.

I don't know how long the papers will take, but I want to go home.

I do not come from a desperate poor country like the other immigrants from South America or Mexico or Africa. I am European and I want to go home.

What can I do to get my passport quick so I can leave?

The people are nice here, but the culture I don't like. The food, the cities, the night life it is all so boring here and so sad. This country would kill my soul.

I love Italy and I love Europe.

Here you have to eat nasty doughnuts from a box, drink coffee from Starbucks, buy chinese junk and live in a big wood house.

This country is like a meal from McDonald's. You can only like it if it is all you know or

I don't know where you're living at here in the US but where I'm from we do none of that. Don't judge all of America by what you're going thru in one place.

I'm sorry that you're homesick and I"m sure that if I was in another country and things weren't like the way I was used to it I'd be wanting to go home too. All I know to tell you is to wait for your paperwork to get finished. I know that's not helping you right now but maybe it will all soon be over. Good luck!!! :)

You may not come from a desperately poor country now, but Italy was desperately poor for a very long time and many of your people came here for a much better life. However, if you are such an elitist then you need to leave, and your American girl should realize she's made a big mistake. I suppose you are one of those Italian men who live with mama all their lives because mama takes care of her baby. Here in the States you've got to do that for yourself, eh? Maybe Italy doesn't want you anymore than we do, though. Maybe that's why they won't give you what you want. As for what you "have to eat or drink" here in America, I think the problem is that you have very little imagination.

You are young yet, evidently you have not been in the States for very long. I am from the States and living in YOUR country, Italy, and I cannot say that it is better than the States. Sorry buddy. Grow up and realize that each country is different, there are pros and cons to each place. If the place you're living in is so sad and boring, why not try living in a different part of the country? If you haven't figured out by now, each part of the States may be a bit different. Try to make the best out of the situation. Like the old saying goes, if life gives you lemons, make lemonaid.

Italiano you don't have to be stay here, all you have to do is buy an airplane ticket, boat ticket, etc. and just go, if you are an Italian citizen you don't need a permit to enter your own country. And what you say about you being from Europe and in Europe you don't have poor countries like Mexico or Latin America, well italiano I don't think you listen to the news very often. Right now in 2006 in Bulgaria the citizen there are so poor that they are selling their youngs so they don't starved to death, Is Bulgaria in Europe? What about Romania the same differences. And Italy is not as you say it is, out of all the counties in Europe Italy and France are the dirties. Do you know why the USA have a lot of Italian immigrants living in the USA, if you don't know check it out. You have to read more about the country you come from before you start knocking down other countries. Ok.

Congrats on being an intelligent human being. Well, perhaps you're not even intelligent, you may just be lucky that you know something else, which is why you are able to make this judgement.

America is very very over-rated.

In fact, it's so over-rated that I laugh at all the immigrants standing in line and jumping through all of these legal hoops in order to stay here.

Well, actually I don't laugh at them anymore; I pity them.

I can only imagine how horrible their countries must be for them to want to live here so ridiculously desperately.

I have heard a lot about Italy, and it's almost all positive.

They say no one lives a fuller life than an Italian. You sure make it sound like that saying is true.

I've never been to Italy, only Germany and Austria. Loved it there. But next time I'd be sure to go to Italy.

I hear the honeys there are super fine too.

Good luck! Just tough it out for now.

Don't pay attention to all the people giving you attitude for wanting to go home. In fact some of their replies help me to understand why so many people and countries find us so annoying, ethnocentric, and ignorant. I'm not referring to fundamentalist or religious radical countries who hate us. They're crazy. From your description of the food and night life, it sounds like you are staying way out in the middle of nowhere.

italians are cool. even blacks copy from them. i know several white dudes who claim to be italian even though they look as white as a snowman. i don't believe them. especially when their names are something like josh vicker. their name should be something like giuliani or something. anyways, italians are cool people. be proud of who you are and dont let america change you. all this flag waving patriotic stuff is mad corny anyways. only lame dudes with nothing else to be proud of walk around talking about "i'm an american...." blah blah blah.

Hey, I went to Can Cun this Summer and I met the most hideous, Arrogant, bastard from Italy I had ever met in my life. He was trying to sell me time shares. Can you believe that? A supposedly "hot Shot' from a non-desperate country working in a "desperate" country? Go back to your hole you belong to. Cockroaches like to live among cockroaches.

Go back to your "beautiful" women that don't shave their armpits.

I personally wish you a speedy trip back to Italy,I didn't enjoy your country either when we visited there a few years ago. But then I prefer a country.with less effeminate men with monster egos, and nothing else.
Please go home I'm sure they miss you too.Have a good trip.

I have to agree with you. The USA is a pretty dull place compared to Europe. I would say to go to the immigration office and explain this to them. Contrary to popular opinion, people without valid paperwork do not get deported or shipped home from this country. The government agencies don't have the budget for that. Just explain your situation and see if they can speed up the paperwork for you. I'm sure something can be done. Good for you for making a decision and doing what is right for your soul. Can I leave with you? Good luck.
