NOOOOOO!!!!!! Please don't!

There are some special-ingredient replacements for sugar in candy, like Isomalt. The regular sugar subs don't work for that, however. Check with a place that handles diabetics' foods to find out where you can get Isomalt.

No the chemical breakdown of a sugar substitute isn't the same as real sugar.

My son emailed me a photo of his efforts to make caramel with Splenda and it looked like a burned pile of stuff. So not that way I would guess.

Most will not yield a good caramel sauce. They tend to be strange-tasting.

you might try zylitol ( birch sugar) it should act the same as regular sugar... I don't think anything else would come even close

you can, but you would have to use so much to equal the recipe in a cookbook, it would not make sense, also it does not dissolve as well, comes out alittle grainy...
