If the only time you have been fishing is on a river bank or a beach pier, and not catching anything....then yeah maybe I see your point...but not really. Fishing is a wonderful sport for a couple of reasons:
-You are able to be in nature, and observe this world through a different lens than you would playing basketball, nintendo, football or golf.
-There is a great amount of knowledge and strategy that can go into it if you are serious about it.
-It can feed you
-You can go offshore, have a grand ole' time drinking and catching some huge amazing fish, or you could take the quiet route and go down the river by yourself or with one other person and feel closer to God than ever before.
-You can have a goal (certain type of fish in mind or a number of fish)....and from that point on you make many choices (the lure, line, fishing time, fishing place, etc) and it is a challenge!
-If you go by yourself, it is an opportunity to have time to yourself and reflect (and that time is very rare and precious this day in age).
-FRESH AIR!
If you were not catching much of anything, and you did not really have someone tell you what to do or how to do it, then yeah you might not have gotten the full experience. But if you have the right mind-set, good company, and the urge to be in nature it is awesome!!!
PS.......why are the people boring and why are they selfish?! I I think it is really sad that this world has become so preoccupied, and is so rushed that being outside (whether fishing or not), is a boring selfish thing to do. It is selfish that people can't even see what a gift we have been given....nature...they have to look for something artificial or shallow to appreciate and deem important. It truly saddens me that people can't even appreciate the natural world for what it is....i am not a tree hugger or anything but i have recently become aware of how many people really DO NOT get outside, and are couped up in their homes on the internet, at work, rushed to an appointment, going out, and doing all sorts of things that distract them from what the true meaning of life is.... So I am sorry you think it is sad and pathetic when people take time to just relax and fish, I happen to applaud them! They get to escape this crazy world for atleast an hour, clear their mind, and focus on what is really important while sitting in one of the most beautiful settings they could ever choose.

i think its boring....but a lot of people seem to like it...and there's always that "family bonding" part about it...and and the water and the silence can be very relaxing like laying on a beach all day. Its a good escape from everyone on land and to be alone in peace for awhile. so my opinion on fishing? I don't like it....but it doesn't bother me if other people enjoy it. We all have different hobbies and what might seem pointless, dumb and a waste of time to one person, could mean everything in the world to another. Whatever floats your boat i suppose. ; )

I guess you prefer singing opera while unicycling over gorges on a tightrope and juggling live badgers while you are covered in burning petrol.
People don't fish because it's exciting, it's a really slow passtime which gives you time to think and relax. Personally I read while listening to classical music to relax but I can see the appeal of the sunny riverbank, not that I would ever catch fish (I am a vegetarian)

Fishing is not crap both me and my other half fish (sea fishing), its the buzz we get when you get a fish on; we some times keep the fish ie to eat or sell but most of the time they go back in.
Also its good for you, if you have never tryed it gave it a go as you cant say its crap if you don't try it

Fishing is a very relaxing, peaceful pursuit.Fishermen buy permits which help to pay for many outdoor recreational activities. You are 25 times more likely to be beaten by a professional basketball player than you are a professional fisherman.

People could say the same about any sport.
I mean, why would you want to hit a little white ball 250 yards, and then chase after it, only to hit it again - until you have done this for four miles.

i guess for morons like yourself it can be boring since you dont like fishing try playing in traffic,or better yet go in to woods with antlers straped to your head come deer season here in michigan you wanker !,also how is it crap , its alot more challenging than shooting a gun somewhat. half the time you cant even see your target.and it takes alot of skill to catch something in their enviroment that you cant even see being on the surface.i'd like to see catch a steele head in elk rapids mi,in april, those fish are smater than you pal.and stick to your own forums no here gives a hoot about you metro punk!
