It's an Italian dessert. Check the link for more information.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tiramisu...

INGREDIENTS:
6 egg yolks
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
1 3/4 cups heavy whipping cream
2 (12 ounce) packages ladyfingers
1/3 cup coffee flavored liqueur

1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
1 (1 ounce) square semisweet chocolate

------------------------------...

DIRECTIONS:
Combine egg yolks and sugar in the top of a double boiler, over boiling water. Reduce heat to low, and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and whip yolks until thick and lemon colored.
Add mascarpone to whipped yolks. Beat until combined. In a separate bowl, whip cream to stiff peaks. Gently fold into yolk mixture and set aside.
Split the lady fingers in half, and line the bottom and sides of a large glass bowl. Brush with coffee liqueur. Spoon half of the cream filling over the lady fingers. Repeat ladyfingers, coffee liqueur and filling layers. Garnish with cocoa and chocolate curls. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
To make the chocolate curls, use a vegetable peeler and run it down the edge of the chocolate bar.

You gotta try THIS recipe!

A chocolate and coffee lover's dream come true. It's an elegant Italian cake made out of mascarpone, Tia Maria liquer, chocolate, espresso coffee, Vin Santo, cocoa powder, etc. I'll give you the recipe. Hope you enjoy it! Tiramisu is my favorite dessert. The cake is also available in Italian bakeries.

Tiramisu
Heaven on a plate

Genoise sponge:
3 1/2 ounces (110 grams) caster sugar
4 eggs
1 3/4 ounces (50 grams) melted butter
3 ounces (85 grams) plain flour
1-ounce (30 grams) good-quality cocoa powder
Filling:
1 pound 1-ounce (500 grams) mascarpone
2 1/2 ounces (70 grams) caster sugar
2 egg yolks*
3.5 fluid ounces (100 milliliters) Vin Santo
4 to 5 shots espresso coffee
Tia Maria liqueur
3 1/2 ounces (110 grams) good-quality white chocolate, melted
Cocoa powder, for dusting
1 bar good-quality dark chocolate, for shavings

First make the sponge. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C /gas 4).

Whisk the sugar and eggs until they are at ribbon stage. Fold in the melted butter, then fold in the sifted flour and cocoa. Pour the mixture into a lined Swiss roll tin and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove the sponge from the oven when it is done and leave to cool.

To make the filling, put the mascarpone, sugar, egg yolks, and Vin Santo into a bowl and mix until smooth.

To assemble the tiramisu, break up the sponge and press it into the bottom of a shallow dish. Drizzle over the coffee, Tia Maria, and white chocolate. Spoon over the mascarpone filling, then dust liberally with cocoa. Using a large knife, scrape the chocolate towards you to make shavings and arrange these delicately over the top.

It's an Italian dessert made with Mascarpone cheese, espresso, and lady fingers. Giada De Laurentiis made a really good one the other day on Food Network. If you go to the website, foodtv.com, you could look up the recipe. Basically, they layer the lady fingers that they've soaked in coffee with the cheese mixture. It's almost like a trifle with a coffee-cheesecake twist. It's actuallly really good.

The recipe is correct. It tastes creamy with a slight coffee flavor. I think the liquor soaked ladyfingers make it bitter, because it isn't very sweet; just a lot of cream with that touch of coffee and sometimes a bit of chocolate. It piles up nicely in a clear serving bowl, is very impressive for guests. The flavor is now in candy bars in Europe, but of course the texture won't be the same.
