Hell had nothing to do with me deciding to become a Christian.

The fact is I wanted to know God all my life - I read the Koran, the Bahatva Gita, the Te Tao Ching, I tried so many things that I thought would bring me closer to God but nothing worked - I tried to imagine God, I tried to dream I was meeting God and make myself experience it (through Astral projection). I wanted to know whatever was out there but I found nothing.

Then when Christians explained to me that there was a barrier between me and God caused by my sin I knew it was true. They told me that not only was God aware of this barrier, but it broke his heart and that's why he sent Jesus to die: because he didn't want there to be anything between us! He wanted me to know him even more than I wanted to know him! And he sent Jesus before I was even born to make everything right.

I asked Jesus to be the Lord of my life and today I know that God loves me and I can talk to him personally whenever I want and he hears my prayers :)

The threat of hell is only one factor that contributes to the salvation of souls. If there was no hell, I would undoubtedly remain a Christian because of the meaning it brings to life. Christ has helped me find significance. I also believe that the type of lifestyle the Bible promotes is a sure way to find love, joy, and peace on the earth. Finally, the reality of hell is not the gospel message. The cross of Christ is the good news that shows man how he can be reconciled to God. Great question. God Bless You.

I didn't become a Christian because of a fear of Hell. It was because I love God and wanted to feel the peace and love that he offers.

Christians use the threat of eternal damnation to get people in the church. It's their famous "believe or burn" ultimatum.

Hell had nothing to do with my coming to faith. I simply don't think about it much.
