Curious, the use of language people use, why do you think people tell other people that they "need" to do anything?

It is just a figure of speech. As in "I need to tell you something" or You need to call me later. I'm not sure where we picked it up, but it does sound a little bossy, doesn't it? :)

You don't "need " to do anything you don't want to do,but Revelations is the only book in the Bible which begins by promising a special blessing on those who study it,and ends by promising a special curse on those who add or take away from it. For those who don't believe in God and the Bible,it would behoove them to read Revelations so that when the prophecies come true, you will know and understand what is happening and perhaps even finally believe what Christians have been saying for centuries;that God does exist;that Jesus did die for our sins;that Jesus is coming back for the faithful believers(Rapture);that the tribulation will happen;that there is a devil and a hell and the unbelievers will spend eternity there if they do not except Jesus as their personal Savior.

The only thing you need to do is pay taxes and die. When people tell you to read something, they do so to help answer your question. I told someone to read Revelation to help them with a question about heaven. But you don't believe anyway, so I would never tell you to do that, it wouldn't make any sense. :-)

If you are going to appreciate a work of art you need to see it first before forming an opinion. If you want to keep on living then you need to breathe. If you want to understand the bible then you need to read it. If you are happy being an atheist then your only need is to be polite about it when you choose not to listen to someone trying to "draw you into the fold."

There are SOME things that one NEEDS to do to continue their survival. You NEED to eat, to drink, to breathe, to love and be loved. You NEED to trust in Jesus for salvation to go to Heaven. You NEED to work if you want to have money (unless you're disabled). Of course, you can choose not to do these things, but then you must also accept the consequences. So basically you NEED to do those things that will provide for that which you require to survive.

I don't know, but the Revelation to St. John is an awe inspiring read. I don't think it has made the Oprah bookclub yet, but let me tell you, it's a "must" read.

Sometimes we need to do things, like when a child has something he or she requires. However, in a lot of instances no we don't need to do anything. We can choose to do it but we certainly don't need to do it.

the only thing you need to do is believe in your heart and confess that the Lord is you Savior. thats the key step we as Christians need to take.

of course not, no one "needs" to do anything. Unless of course you want to have some wisdom. Then you "need" to study. or if you want to have some money then you "need" to get off your butt and get a job. or if your belly is growling, you "need" to eat
or if you are tired of living the Lie of this world, you "need" to seek God through Jesus,

Matthew 7:8
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
