I am a stylist and what I tell my clients is, putting your hair in a pony tail will not cause you to loose you har but it will break it off. Finding the right band is the key. Don't use the elastic rubber bands or anything that your hair can easily get caught in, I would recommend a scrunchy or some other fabric band to hold your hair back. There are many reasons you could be loosing your hair one of the most popular reasons is stress and lack of circulation. The other reasons can be a scalp desease or genetics. If you have a history of hair loss in your family it is possible you could have gotten the gene that promotes hair loss. One of the best web site to go to is
www.hair-basics.com they can help you pin point the reasons your are losing your hair. Good Luck

Keeping your hair in a pony tail won't make you lose your hair, but the pony tail elastic will damage your hair, and break it off, so it may look like you're loosing it. Also, because your hair is in the pony tail all day, the natural amount of hair you would shed cannot fall away like it would if your hair were down. so, when you take down your hair to brush it, it may seem like theres alot in your brush, but don't panic! You're just seeing it all at once instad of not noticing what you lose in a normal day. Get it?
Poor diet is a major way to lose hair! Healthy diet, healthy hair.

To wear a ponytail, ONLY wear scrunchies and those ponytail holders that look like it was made from shoe laces. Those kind won't collect hair. Be careful not to make your ponytails too tight; that can cause hair loss.
Also, don't use heat in your hair too often, like try to use them as little as possible. If you perm your hair, careful to follow the directions down to the letter. Don't wear ANY kind of hairstyles too tight (you don't have to worry about that if you wear all of your hair down). Don't brush wet hair, use a comb instead. If possible, use a wide-tooth comb. And careful how you comb tangles.
Sorry I have no site for you!

you won't loose your hair from the root, but you will see breakage at the base of the ponytail. Ifyou are going to wear your hair up you need to change it by using those jawclips. A lot of things and make you loose your hair including not enough vitamins and stress. take a multivitamin especially with calcium.

yep, it will break your hair off at the ponytail. Not combing it and letting it get matted is another way
