A pound is a unit of weight. A cup is a unit of volume.
There is one situation where you can use them interchangeably;
1 cup of water has a volume of 8oz AND weighs 8 oz
Therefore if your two pounds was water or a liquid with the same density.
The math is 2x16[ oz in a lb] = 32 oz. 32/8 [oz in a cup]= 4 cups or 1qt.
And yes you can believe my answer.

28g in an oz.
32 oz in a lb
2 cups = 1 Quart
4 Qts = 1 Gallon
SO. If 8oz = 1 Cup, then, 2 lbs= 16 cups.
I think. Memory deicing now.

Each pound is 8 ounces. You would have, for 2 pounds 16 ounces total. A coffee mug holds about 8 ounces. 2 pounds is 2 cups. If you drink 2 cups of coffee (or tea) in the morning when you get up, you are, in effect, drinking 2 pounds of liquid coffee or tea.

You are comparing weight to volume. Pounds is weight, cups is volume. If you want to know how many cups makes two pounds, you have to tell me what you are measuring in the cups. Two pounds of lead will take up much less volume than two pounds of feathers, even though they are both two pounds.
