Your problem is due to the special forces - my gramps was a secret documents courier between Germany and Holland (on the U.K side of the fence of course and there is very little information).
Try some of these:

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/browse-refine.asp?CatID=10&searchType=browserefine&pagenumber=1&query=*&queryType=1

http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/

Go to some of the museums and find someone there who might be able to help - they have records to search on site sometimes.

Good luck - it will not be easy as some of the special forces information will still be clasified.

You're in the UK? I spent much of my last trip over there in regimental museums, that could be a start.

I should think there's a veteran's organization for the Chindits. Your granddad must have been something!

Ask some of the Agencies connected with the Forces such as the British legion or SSAFA.
