Have a friend with a 97 F150 that needs his key fob programmed... We tried using my Ford manual for my Truck (2003 F150) and it didn't work.

Someone mentioned they are programmed differently.

If you are talking about the door unlock transmitter then try this, cycle the key off and on 8 times leaving the key on th erun postion , the doors will lock then unlock when it does this push the lock button on the first remote then after that push the lock button on the second remote with in 5 seconds.

They are programmed the exact same... Since 1997 Model year on the F-150 (1999 MY for Super Duty), they have used the same key cycling 8 times for programming.

First of all, if it doesn't cycle, either it didn't come with it from the factory (which is the case sometimes as you can have power door locks but no key fob module) or the module took a dump...

And this is only for Ford Factory remotes.. your buddy may have a Ford aftermarket or even one of the other car alarm brands out there also.. in which case the key cycling won't work... (the Ford Aftermarket uses a button and a special remote with a small 12v battery)
