At least 2 litres of bottled still mineral water. Anyone who tells you bottled water is a hype, has no idea what they are talking about.

WHY should we drink 2 litres per day? It's not my fault, that's how you were 'designed'. Drinking this amount of water is how your body transport all the good and bad stuff around your system. The good bits go to the right place, the bad bits get flushed out.

Incidentally, the suggestion that drinking lots of water overloads the kidneys is so out of date it has fossilised.

Good luck!

I'd say more than 2-4 litres is manageable every day. Even in a casual manner. If you're training intensily, then you'd have no trouble taking in 6, at least, this is my experience, and assuming of course you know the importance of youre own diet etc. Take a 500ml glass. That means alls you need to do is fill it four times over the course of 20 odd hours to drink 2 litres.

I think its safe to say its good to drink at least 1.5-2 litres of water per day.[water in a glass, on its own] Should keep us on the straight and narrow I believe

It is actually recommended that you drink half of your body weight in ounces.. So for example if you weighed 100 pounds, you would need to drink 50 ounces for you to NOT retain water weight. Gettcha?
But if you exercise, sweat, or are trying to lose weight, 8 glasses. No more or else you'll start to go overload on your bladder. It's not healthy to drink TOO much.

Lot's of us know it's two litres. But try doing it. I try but in the morning it's sod it I fancy coffee, in the afternoons it's tea and in the evening there is no way my glass of red wine would be substituted by water, oh no!!!! So in the end I probably only drink four glasses.

There has never been a single scientific reference to support the fairy tale of 8 glasses of water a day. This information was initially put out by the USDA in the fifties and is without basis.

The rule of thumb used by your doctor is 4mL/kg/hr for the first 10kg, 2mL/kg/hr for the next 10kg, and 1mL/kg/hr thereafter. This means the average adult at 70 kg needs 2460mL/day.
