New clothes of all kinds have sizing put into them to help their appearance in packaging or on the rack. Some people are sensitive to these chemicals and need to wash the clothing before wearing it. My wife does this all the time. I on the other hand have no such sensitivity and wear things straight out of the package.

Your answer depends on you and your baby. I the baby has no negative reactions (e.g. sneezing, rash, coughing, etc.) then just use them without the washing first. Heaven knows there's enough to do caring for a baby without taking unnecessary steps.

YES,you don't know what got in those things during shipping and hanging on the racks at the stores.Babies skin is sensitive,so it can cause a very painful rash for a lil one. It's always best to wash your clothes before wearing them.Use Dreft that's what I used on my kids clothes till they were about three or four.

YES! New clothing almost always comes with "sizing" on it (a type of starch or other chemical to make it hold its shape). The child may react to it or even have asthma or allergies. ANY clothes from overseas are often coated w/pesticides, to prevent bugs from being shipped w/the clothing! So wash those thoroughly! Try to use a gentle detergent and rinse thoroughly (I rinse all our clothes at least twice, as my son and I have allergies and I have asthma).

The clothes that will go directly up against your babies skin such as jammies, undershirts.
The rest you dont really need to wash unless you want to.

Because your baby is going to have them next to their skin and you don't know who's touched them and where their hands have been plus sometimes there are dyes and starches they put on clothes when they are new.

Yes, because that's the way my mom did it.

Seriously it's something about all the germs that could be on them from the store or something.
