My husband found a baby bird?

Question

It's mom died and so did it's brothers and sisters. Neither of us knows how to take care of baby birds. Should we take it to the SPCA first thing Monday morning?

Would you not want to be helped if you fell down and broke your leg or would you just want to die off and bleed to death.

If you want to, you can get baby bird feed at a pet store and feed it with a bottle. We took care of two pigeons that fell out of a nest when it stormed. Fed them with a little baby bottle and made sure that they had a little bird bath in the cage with water. Just be sure there is fresh water. Also, if you can find worms under a rock in your yard, that will help wean it from the bottle and get used to the outside world.
I don't think the baby bird will survive until Monday. The SPCA may have an emergency number to contact them but I don't think they would come unless the bird was injured.
If it looks old enough, you can get the bird seed that is put out for all kinds of birds. We kept the pigeons in a cage until they were strong enough to be released. Although, it took them awhile to leave our yard, they got use to us I guess. But, they finally starting flying around and went with other pigeons.

The SPCA usually will not deal with birds. Put a call in to the Vet. There are usually several people in each area that are experienced with caring for wild birds. Most likely by Monday, without proper care, he won't be alive.

we have found baby birds, it probably wont live but u can try feeding it warm milk with an eye dropper until mon. but like any baby it has to be feed often like every 20 mins. or so during the day from my observations of birds in my yard. dont know about at night because i'm asleep, i think they r too . keep it warm and i dont think the spca will do anything. u need to find a wildlife refuge for birds. good luck and don't take it too personally if it dies ur chances r minamal at best.

I had a baby bird too, we raised it until it could fly, we fed it with special baby bird food and kept it warm with a bottle warmer for babies, we put water in it, kept it warm and built a nest over it, during the day we often put it in the breast pocket of a shirt we were wearing. It usually sleeps a lot but has to be fed about all 3 hours. It will show you when it's hungry, when you start feeding it it turns around and makes poo. Also give it some water. I think it's not that difficult to raise a bird when you have time for it and there is no cat at home.

That would be the nice thing to do, but in reality the bird probably wont last that long! I have "saved" many birds when i was young and when my mom raised birds. Wild birds don't take to being feed from a straw and usually don't stay alive for more then one or maybe 2 days!

Once when we found a baby bird, we took it to a wildlife animal rescue. They have someone there to receive pets at all hours. Your bird my be dead by Monday. Look in a phone directory.
