If you must use a brand from walmart then i would suggest getting the suave generic version of professional brands. The work just as well. I use them as a back up to the professional brands and have not seen a difference. I believe suave makes a generic version of Shaper Plus hairspray. Shaper Plus is made by Sebastian and is the NUMBER 1selling hairspray in the WORLD.

All hairspray can be damaging if you don't get rid of the build up at least once a month. I personally use the suave brands aerosol and pump. I found they work the best and I am a stylist. There is no difference in the brands sold at Wal-Mart and your salon except the prices. You stylist will always tell you their brands won't damage your hair, but that is a lie! There products will do the same amount of damage and cause the same amount of build up (if not more) as what you will buy at a store. The only reason they tell you that is because they are trying to earn their commission for the month. If you notice a build up on your hair buy a cheap stripping shampoo and use it once a month, or do what i do and give your hair a beer bath, it will get rid of the product build up and won't hurt your hair at all. Good luck

i wouldnt reccommened putting over-the-counter products in your hair. its going to damage your hair. i dont believe there is a good brand of hairspray in walmart. sometimes you can find salon products in walmart but their diluted... so they are not going to work like the salon products that you would buy at the salon. just think of it this way -if you were to buy an expensive shirt at the store for a $100 that says needs to be dry-cleaned. are you going to wash it in the washing machine or are you going to take it to the dry-cleaners. i would take it to the dry-cleaner if i spent that much. you have to think about your hair like that, if you want to maintain and take care of it. iam currently going to school for cosmetology and i love to ware hairspray in my hair. they call me the hairspray queen. i use forceful 23 by redken. i know salon products can be expensive but its worth it. before i started school i use to buy hairspray from the $store or walmart. i thought it worked fine. when i started school they would say- not to use just any kind of hairspray. i said whatever they just wanted my money. i ended up buying a bottle of forceful 23 and oh my god i will never buy hair spray from anywhere else again. its so different to have in your hair. one day i ran out and went to my moms to use her regualr hairspray and i couldnt do my hair. i got so mad. just save a little more money and go out and buy some. it last a lot longer because you dont have to use so much. it really works. hope this helps. from the hairspray queen.

Anything without aerosol. I use John Frieda's hairspray because it doesn't make my hair stiff and nasty.
