Dawn dish washing soap is a good way to get it off my cockatoo got into some oil once and that is what my avian vet said to use and it worked great. She specified Dawn because it isn't harmful to the bird.
Good Luck :o)

I would wash him with dishwashing soap and laugh at him. I bet you got your fingers bit to... lol.. Silly bird.. I don't know if he got any in his eyes but I would not get the soap in his eyes. For the eyes if there is a problem take the bird to a vet..

use Dawn dish soap...that disolves grease, and will not harm the bird. That is what they use to get oil off wildlife after an oil spill

I would have to agree with the answerer above me. Call the vet. Soap may do the trick, but your vet can give you a definite answer.

Birds bathe and groom themselves. Dont worry about the cooking oil, just make sure theres water in the cage for it to bathe itself.
