I became a Christian in my late teens about 35 years ago. My early years were steeped in Bible study and I got, what I think, is a very good foundation. Being promised in John 10:10 a more than abundant life, I believed that and just let God hold the reins.
Since then, I've never had to apply for a job, they've been offered to me. When I went to get my master's degree - I got a full scholarship. With little or no ambition per se, nor an interest in job politics I've always been promoted and my job has taken me to interesting places like Hong Kong, NYC, Boston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
I've submitted three articles to magazines and all three have been published.
Even the most cynical atheist would have to agree that my life has been blessed or I am just insanely lucky.
I just got a new boss. Not knowing if we'll get along, I just asked God to take care of me. Either by giving me a good boss or winning the lottery, lol.
It struck me as an incredibly passive act
Thoughts?

If you've repented of your sins and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and that He died on the cross so that you can be forgiven, then you're saved. HOWEVER, many Christians don't realize that salvation is just the beginning. The Lord actually schedules our days---think about it. He has a specific will for every minute of our lives. It's up to us whether we decide to allow Him to lead us or whether we decide to just live on our own. But He has handpicked each and every one of us for a specific purpose. He has imparted each and every one of us with giftings that many of us don't even realize we have because we've never even bothered to ask Him. We could do sooo much more than what we're doing if we'd only submit to Him and let HIM take the reigns, have faith that He knows what He's doing--even when we don't And then we'd feel infinitely more fulfilled. This is why the constant renewing of our minds is so important. If we don't renew our minds with the Word, then we start to fall into this "idle" position. Our spirits aren't getting fed like they need to be and we get to this point where we're just kinda going through the motions of life. He wants so much more for us! We're His kids! I pray that you seek Him out in ways that you've never done before. Watch and see what happens. Be blessed!

You're probably living an incredibly passive life.
Some Christians still have to work very hard to even get crap.
Just continue to thank God every day and read scripture.

Being a Christian is not about material things. You may have talent and be good at what you do and that's why you are successful. Being a good Christian is not passive. You must show by your deeds what you are. Love, compassion, caring for those less fortunate, and promoting peace among men.

You are experiencing God's abundant grace (unmerited favor).
God promises that His children will never have to beg bread.
If a man is righteous, even his enemies are at peace with him.
You're living a life that is fulfiled daily by scripture.
That's not passive. It's extremely exciting !

It is by Grace and you are blessed with a good life abundantly from God. Passive act? I would have to say no for that is opposite of what God would do.

Not necessarily. You see, I've been posting on the Yahoo! Christian forums for 6 years now, & some of my most ardent Christian friends on the forums are driven to such zeal, precisely because of their strong Christian faith.
They would fight to the very finish for exactly what they believe in.

You will be rewarded for your behavior I suppose unto a fashion. I do not know if that requires being passive or not. There will be times when passive just won't do it. To everything there is a season.

Dear Wrath of K,
John is the "verily verily" gospel account,
the only v v one of four gospel accounts,
wherein John is more beloved (blessed),
but such law law is only according to John,
who in Revelation turned to law behind him,
thereafter prophet saw himself on a throne,
dumping his Horeb-bull on all the folk below.
If your 'pseudo' name is firstly 'wrath' of k,
perhaps the sort of 'Christian' you became
is like those "first called Christians at Antioch",
which were the likes of Saul, Barnabas, Peter:
Saul being childish part of child/man Saul/Paul.
Barnabas getting carried away by dissimulation.
Peter being only man in the Bible called Satan.
Nothing biblically 'passive' about:
whatsoever ye bind on earth is bound in heaven
whatsoever ye loose on earth is loosed in heaven
Nothing biblically 'passive' about:
by "thy words", "thou" art (either)
justified(graced) or condemned(lawed)
Many who thought themselves incredibly blessed,
by be passive and let God on high have the reigns,
have found out too late God on high is a law law God:
no matter which hand you get, it's "law worketh wrath".
And if wrath loosed on earth is also loosed in heaven,
what you may get is the no escape sort of destruction,
comes suddenly upon "them" who say Peace & Safety.
Good luck winning the lottery or getting a nice new boss,
if you loosed wrath on earth is thereby loosed in heaven.
Where then would you go to avoid such wrath to come?
Hint: God hath not appointed "us" unto (law worketh)wrath.
If I were ye do err, I'd "come out from among them", asap.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.

Faith is ultimate trust. God rewards teh faithful. you serve teh right master, you do not service man. Surrendering yourself to God is passive, but it is also showing God that you are loving and trusting him unconditionally.
Bless you, not many in life find the true path.
