It depends on your lifestyle and how much time you have to invest in a pet. Dogs need walking twice a day whereas cats are alot more independant and will take themselves off. I have had both as pets and I have to say I prefer a dog as mine have always been so much more friendly than the cats. If a cat cant be bothered to say hello, it doesn't. A dog is always pleased to see you!

I have a dog and a cat. I think that a dog has more personality than a cat. But a cat is more independent. I think it just depends on what kind of animal you like,... one that you have to give your full attention to (dog) or one that kind of just takes care of themselves and you dont worry so much about leaving them home alone when you are out.(cat) Like i said I have both..... and I think they are both the best.

It entirely depends what your needs are. Cats are way more independant. You can go away and just let a neighbour feed them once or twice a day and they will be right. Dogs need heaps more attention. Cats can make a nusiance of themselves to the neighbours but barking is the worst. If you have a small property a cat will live happily but a dog needs space. Dogs need walks cats don't. But dogs need you more and love you more, they are dependant on you and are able to be trained etc...I would say neither is better but one is often more suited to individual needs than the other.

It depends on the temperament of the owner. Dogs are good pets for people who want a buddy to hang out with, walk with and ride places with. They are good for protection and good companions, but require a lot of work, attention and maintenance. Cats are much easier to house break, but do not train well. They hang out when they want to hang out. Some like riding around and others don't. You can't leash break a cat. In both cases, they will tend to want to wander away if you do not spay or neuter them. I like both. They can live well and get along in the same household.

Dogs win hands down. Cats are spiteful creatures, they always go in my onion bed and scrap leaving there, shall we say 'deposits' behind them. Not all cats bury it. There 'deposits' are dangerous to pregnant woman. Some people would say if you've got rodent problems, get a cat, get a Jack Russell, more affective, they keep cats out too.
