This year we are using a DVD - book called the " Flood " - experience the rush .It is by serendipity . One of the lessons is on sex & sexual issues . What is your input ? We think based on our community ( small town ) , group size -30 uni sex that this subject is a little more driven toward high schoolers ? Thanks for your input

Unless you want to get charged with promoting child sex you better drop that lesson.

Hi. I work with a local youth group myself and when I want to touch on sensitive material such as this I make arrangements to be able to divide the group by gender. It is certainly a relevant topic. Maybe if you have a time constraint and cannot show the dvd twice in one group then one week the boys could view it while the girls do something else and vice versa.

However, if one of your youth has had this happen to them they may not be comfortable watching it with a group of people. Maybe you send home a permission slip or some notification of the date and topic to allow the parents or youth decide if it is something they want to participate with.

Good luck to you.

The material presents a scriptural view of promiscuity as a sin. The group you are addressing will be inundated by the worldly view. Don't you think you would do well to serve the Lord by giving them an alternative view? In the end, it depends on the maturity of your group and permission from parents.

I think that just because your community is small doesn't mean your students aren't exposed to what's really going on. They have the internet...MYSpace , movies, media....Don't rule out anything. Knowledge is power. I think you should educate them on the issues before other young people try to give them what they know from their older sisters and brothers. I would educate the jr. high kids. Look at it this way atleast they on the right track being in bible study in the first place.

Get their parents to sign a waiver and maybe even only offer it to 8th graders...actually I know people that were sexually active starting in 6th grade...so .,...think about that....
