Summary of the story of Job:

God told Satan he could kill everything Job loved, destroy everything he owned and torture Job however he wanted so long as he did not kill Job. Which Satan did.

Now, what makes you think God would not allow Satan to inspire the Bible, have his little helpers appear as prophets and Jesus; and, perform all kinds of miracles to convince you to give him your soul and follow him?

Having faith in Satan would have the same effect as having faith in the real God.

By what process have you conclusively proven that the God you are following is not Satan?

This is a variation of the Pascal's Wager of which so many of you are fond.

Norm, you might try reading it again.

I specifically said Satan could NOT kill Job.

Pangel, Satan's persona changed over time and his role as God's helper changed to the Christian version of being an adversary.

Originally, Hebrews did not view Satan as God's opponent or adversary, he was God's little helper.

But, for purposes of this question, we'll go with the hybrid, helper/adversary version.

Reformed, if you don't think Satan could perform miracles, you need to re-read your bible.

I assure you I have read the bible in its entirety more than once and most of you are making no logical sense whatsoever.

Satan opposing the bible? Really?

I can't see where it's a variation of Paschal's Wager, but I CAN tell you this:
If there were a 'god', (which there isn't) I could truthfully say that it's already been done to me - and who knows how many others?
Why do Christians persist in propagating a mythical figure as real, who, if 'he' were real, allows untold suffering every single day?

#1) God told Satan that he was not allowed to kill Job physically, let alone spiritually. We see God allowing Satan to harm, not kill us or seperate them from us. This is not a basis that god would allow Satan to kill many souls in God's name.
Also, Satan was not aloud to slander or misrepresent God. he was given permission to test Job. If the Bible was inspired by Satan, it either
a) contains a large amount of misrepresentation about God, which we have no basis for assuming God would allow, or
b)it contais a large amount of true information about God that would hurt Satans cause and help God's.

a slightly lenghthier argument with more sentences in it available for human error. I might of screwed up somewhere in the following, but I think that it is basically sound

If Satan inspired the Bible, then it tells us the way to follow him. Satan claims that he is higher than God. Why would Satan write a whole book in which he called himself "God" and God "Satan"

Jesus was once asked if he was a servant of Satan. He responded that If he was a servant of Satan, He would not be destroying Satan's work, by casting out demons in this case.Satan could not attack Satan, so since Jesus attacked Satan, he could not be God.

The Bible encourages godliness, fleeing from the devil, the worship of God, praising God, the remission of sins, etc. etc. Either Satan was commiting suicide by inspiring the Bible because it led to God, or God inspired the Bible. Satan would not of openly attacked and discredited Satan.

If Satan wrote the Bible, then the God of the Bible does not exist because Satan is God's enemy and would not of turned people away from himself(Satan) towards God. If the God of the Bible does not exist, then the Satan of the Bible does not exist because it was the God of the Bible that created him.

If, for the sake of this argument we assume that some supernatural power other than God(Yahweh) inspired the Bible, then it was either some other god playing a joak on us or it was some other satan leading people to a non-existant diety. It does not make much sense that a god would make up competition for his worship or just to trick people, so I am going to assume that it is the other satan, not the other god that would of inspired it.If it was another satan, and the God and Satan of the Bible don't really exist, then where does Jesus come from? Did the other satan create a human with supernatural that claimed to be a nonexistant God and who fought against a fake Satan? Why would he go through such an elaborate confusion of the facts when it would ultimately result in people at the very least at least behaving godly, if not truly understanding the "real"god? If a satan inspired this book, he is a real loser. If a different god inspired this book, then he is really wierd. If God as described in the Bible exists, then things start to make sense.

It does not make sense that evil would encourage good. It does not make sense that one god would encourage the worship of a fake one. It does make sense that a God who loves us would choose to reveal Himself to us so that we may love and worship Him.

God allowed satan to test Job's Faith. Job kept his Faith, although he lost everything and was tortured by satan. Did you notice how he was rewarded by God for staying faithful? This book only proves satan has no power over God. And in the end satan loses and God rewards those who keep their Faith, No matter what satan has placed in their path. The way you phrased your question makes you seem very naieve! You misinterprited the entire book. Have you even read it? I don't think you have. You are nit-picking from some article you read on-line somewhere.

Recall that Job did not curse or forsake God - even as his friends persuaded him to abandon God and die.

The trials of Job demonstrated Job's faith in God via surviving adversity.

Having faith in Satan results in certain death and destruction - if not at that moment, then some point down the road.

Many Americans (and others) "claim" belief in God but they unwittingly worship Satan. For example, the perverts who go to places expecting to have sex with a 15 year old child. Satan is with them every step of the way until Chris Hansen steps out and Satan flees - leaving the pervert alone to face humiliation and arrest by the authorities.

God sent his son in human form who died and rose from the dead - by death trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs. Satan has not raised anyone from the dead nor has Satan given life to those in the tombs.

Your premise is faulty. Satan cannot perform and cannot cause miracles. He can only deceive. He deceived Jobs friends, but not Job. You have taken a portion of the scripture once again to support a faulty, unstudied, hypothesis. Did not Satan have to gain God's permission to test Job? Did not God know the end from the beginning? His servant Job refused to be tempted into Satan's deception propagated by Job's deceived friends. Goodness! Read the Bible if you want to discuss it.

It is not a matter of "Satan inspiring the bible". If he did, he wouldn't be so much against it ~ he wouldn't fight it so much, neither would he pretend to be against it.

So, the proof is in the way Satan treats the Bible. Same goes with the rest that is recorded in the Bible. If Jesus was Satan disguising himself, he wouldn't be so Anti-Christ now, would he??
