To believe that something is real/true in the absence of any proof or evidence.
Faith is the opposite of science, which is why the two should never be confused.
I know that God exists but I could never prove it scientifically.

"Define Faith?" Being a follower of Christ I have to go to the Source of my Faith. Heb. 11:1-40. Lays down the foundation and basis for a Christian's Faith. That God keeps His promises, and that Christ's coming, His Life and Death were foretold in the Scriptures and was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost. Acts 2: 1-47. And being a Christian I need to take All the Scriptures as the inspired word of God. 2 Tim. 3: 16-17. Rom. 4: 16-25, Rom. 15:1-6. Having the premise that God, Christ and the Holy Spirit are ONE in their thoughts and attitude. Gen. 1: 1-3: 1-24 compare Jon 1: 1-18. Matt. 28: 18-20. So faith has a Foundation of Truth which we then base our hopes upon when the Father tells us He is going to do thus and so. And when HE carried out His Will through history. And when His prophets That were 100% accurate in their prediction of Future events. And especially concerning the Coming of the Messiah and the prophesies surrounding Him. And how our Savior fulfilled everyone of them. Hence you have my definition of Faith and my reasoning's behind/for it. Study On!

Faith is the desire of the heart to do God's Will. Faith is not found in symbols or places. You cannot re-enforce faith, you have it or not. You cannot demonstrate it, as it is not something you can take out and show someone. It is the one thing you have that is yours alone, to be shared only with God and his Son.

This totally sums it up!
I quote it so very often because most people use the word "faith" wrong.
Faith is NOT your "religion"!
Faith is to be SURE of what you hope for.
And the evidence of things unseen.

faith--for me--just me--allows me to get up everyday and show up for life--
without a belief that there is rhyme and reason--my life would lack purpose--
today--i need to believe that a power --much greater than me exists--
faith offers me security--allows me to think of this world as a friendly place--
faith enables me to smile--knowing i am not alone--there is a spirit of my universe
how did i find that faith--it was always hiding within--you see, the faith is in me--
i am just a regular person that now truly believes--

The way I see it represented is trust in one's self that what "you" believe is correct. No matter what definition I've been given, it still ends up being trust in yourself First, that what you believe to be true, is actually true.
