I have my stepson here ( we live in Turkey on the Agean Sea ) and he won't go out on his own, he is 18 stone and 6ft 3inches high. He sits and waits for us to make his decisions but we are lost for things for him to do apart from getting pissed (which he likes) and doing all the things you should do on holiday. He can't find a woman cos he is so self insecure. God what will we do with him? He has told us about his fears but he still hides behind us. We love him but he hates being loved.
I don't want Quack answers telling him to go to see this and the other cos we know he won't .
So what's the cure folks ??????????????

im afraid you cant cure him. Its up to him to make decisions about his own life. I know its hard but it has to come from him or it wont work. Be supportive of him but dont make decisions for him as he relies on you because he knows you will.

He can't hate being loved that much if he won't go out on his own. Perhaps you should stop loving him so much and force him to pull himself together and gain some independence. Insecurity aside, being lazy and laddish are not attractive qualities if he wants to find a woman. Get him a job on a turkish fishing boat and send him out to sea for a few months.

I dont know if this is helpfull but I went to kickboxing classes years ago and it really helped my confidence in many things in my life.

More confident with people, better shape physically.

If you could get him into that sort of social sport and stick to it I think your stepson would get out and about a bit more.

give him a newspaper, ask him to look in the job section, that way he will meet more people while he's there, tell him it's not a holiday camp and he also has to stop getting pissed, 18 year olds will always allow us to make the decisions if you allow them to allow us..if you understand my meaning, he needs a job where he can get out more, meet people, and become more confident

Why don't you invite people to yours and have a bit of a party maybe then when he sees others enjoying themselves he may just cheer up a little with himself and see that life can be fun good luck

Keep going to the same bar and he will get to know some people there and hopefully he will go to see them on his own.
If you see that one or two people are getting on with him ok then have a quite word with them to try and get them to invite him along when they do stuff.
