Through out the past week or so I have been congested. I had no sinus pain, but my throat hurt and I had post nasal drip. I went to the doctor, and tested negative for strep. Now that I have started clearing up, I have had minor nasal congestion, and my right ear is clogged. I am sure it has something to do with my congestiion, but I wanted to know if anyone had any strategies or tips of how to clear it out. I already took a decongestent, it was better this morning, but it seems to have come back as the day has progressed. Would some sort of compress help? I have heard of ear candeling, but I don't think I can do that...

You need to cintinue taking sinus med as it will help dry up and dispell the excess liquid which will help drain the ear. You should also tilt your head to the side of the ear and tug lightly on your earlob this will help move the canal slightly which in turn will help with drainage. Also if you have an onion (not a vidallia, sweet onion but like a spanish onion which can make your eyes water) cut it up in good sized pieces and heat it lightly in the microwave to help get the onion juice out. Put a couple of drops of onion juice in your ear. For any other congestion mix 4 table spoons of Honey with 1/2 tablespoon Thyme (fresh is best but dried works too) then take one tablespoon of the mixture about every six hours. This dries up the congestion quicker than any med i have taken!!! It works great.

I have suffered from allergies so bad that have similar symptoms of what you have listed. For ear pain and cleaning I get a very hot cup of water and then tilt my head to the side and cup it around my ear to let the steam in. It makes it feels a lot better and then I just use a small amount of toilet paper and q tips to clean it out if needed.

You could have small eustachian tubes. That could be where the connection comes from. I have the same problem anytime I get some type of cold or congestion. When the eustachian tubes are small they are also angled differently, which means there's a drainage problem. It's just something we have to learn to live with.
