It is opportunism and brainwashing.
The single WORST thing is that these ignorant people are permitted to brainwash their children with this mindless pap, destroying their lives and any hope of intellectual advancement in the process. Teaching children, the most vulnerable in our society, to abdicate thought, abdicate logic and blindly believe what they are brainwashed to.
That this is permitted in our society is a travesty.

It is rather foolish of believers to do most of these. Why would a believer try to push a new believer from learning more of God's world? it might be done, but it is easier to accept God as real if you acknowledge that his world is real.
Geology, astronomy, and biology are some of the areas most related to this debate. If by "tarnish" you mean that there use by believers does it, then you are incredibly prejudiced. If the debate is about these subjects, then more than one side should be able to refer to them.
If by "tarnish" you mean that believers claim that scienc is irrelevant, then that is foolishness. God created the world, and discarding the study of science throws out a lot of evidence for God. requiring blind faith where reasonable faith is possible is illogical, unlike God.
Christians shouldn't witness to ex-drug and alcohol abusers? Many of these people have seen just how little this world really has to offer. They have given up their old attempt at a god- their addiction, and are now looking for the real deal. Shouldn't they at least have the option of learning about who we claim God is? or should they be denied that because you know that your antireligious beliefs are the proper thing for them and due to their past history they cannot be trusted with choices and must be carefully watched over to make sure that they do not make any decisions that you would not?
The Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is a sin. It also teaches that gossip is a sin, as is prostitution, stealing, murder, extra-marital sexual relations, cheating, etc. It does not teach that homosexuals are to be hated, rejected, shunned, etc. They are humans, so they have fallen and are in need of God's grace. They are human and are deserving of our love, and have already recieved our Creator's love. If someone is using Christianity to support their hate of fellow sinners, then they should find a new religion that preaches hate of homosexuals, not forgiveness of fellow sinners.
On your last statement, the answer is no. How could such flawed human practices justify a glorius end?, namely the remission of sins.
If you mean "Do the ends justify the means?," then the answer is still no except in the case of the second one. How can you justify lying about God by saying that it taught someone about God? Kinda hard to do.

I am Christian but do not subscribe to mainstream beliefs. The Bible tells us God created man by breathing life into dust. That does not tell me if it was an instantaneous reaction or if the single living dust cell evolved into man over thousands of years.
The "church" is not correct when it comes to matters of science. I think the Church should stick to matters of religion and allow scientist to do their jobs. Understanding how something happened (creation-evolution) doesn't make the fact that it happened any less remarkable.

i agree with your ideas,
when i read them cut and paste the crap about how evolution can't be true and how the fossils aren't really dated correctly and its cause of "the flood" and how the "water was pure" at the beginning,
you just have to laugh and put them on ignore and walk away
there is no god and thats pretty much the bottom line
like you said you say an ex alcoholic or ex druggie they give their life to jesus at least they aint robbing my home

They don't just promote distrust of science, they actively LIE about it! Man came from monkeys? NO.
The creationists propagate a completely false version of what science actually says. I would distrust science too if that was my only source of information.

Promoting truth is the cornerstone of Christianity.
Evolution is voodoo science with no proof to support it.
If you aren't ready to stand up for truth at all times, don't bother calling yourself a Christian.

Yes, truly preposterous. If God is as great as they say he is, then that should be enough to want to convert.
