You are lucky you got to go to Poland, I would love to. I think we are fat here because we have too much food and choices to make. Supersizing is a big mistake. I try not to eat all my fries.
Also being bored at work causes me to eat junk food. People in some countries don't have alot of choices to make and stores (in Poland) run out of food. When we had visitors here from Poland, and I took them to our grocery stores, they cried because they never seen so much food before. Sad but true. And we get mad because the store doesn't have a certain brand of soup we want!

You didn't see any obese people in Poland because you either weren't there long enough or didn't look hard enough. If there aren't any fast food joints there that is one reason there aren't many obese people. There was just a story on the news about China and India having a growing problem with obesity...why? Because their economies are burgeoning, giving them more leisure time and they are turning more and more to fast food rather than traditional dishes. And to the girl who said the American Midwest has more obesity than other parts of the country....the majority of Midwesterners are of German descent and genetically predisposed to larger frames and less efficient metabolisms. Don't be so quick to judge and call obese people lazy and gluttonous. Many obese people I know are harder working than their thin peers, exercise regularly and are dieting constantly. If it is in your genes, you have to give up so much more than thin people to get thin and work harder to keep it off. Life is a constant struggle for them, but most obese people have just this one vice and aren't running down innocent people on the road like drinkers and druggies.

The Big Macs have 60 grams of fat. The cows are given the growth harmone to make them fat. The fat is passed onto the humans. The cheapest food is so fattening.
Finland is the number one economy in the world and USA is number two. Switzerland's big cities have a higher per capita income than the rest of the world. The Europeons use the mass transsport system and also end up walking a lot. Two weeks in Europe and I lost 7 pounds eventhough I was eating a lot.

Numerous amounts of fast food joints, not enough exercise, and just to much demands on eating. I mean when you turn on the tv what is there? A huge 1/4 pound beef burger with cheese dripping profusely down the sides. So I guess if anyone was hungry enough they would keep that advertisment in mind all day if they have to, wondering why they are so hungry. Kids live off of soda pop when they hardly notice that sweet syrupy tasting liquid is loaded with more than 38 sugars! I mean if you have two of them..... God forbid us all. Besides that there is just alot of unhealthy junk food everywhere you look, and most of the craving and eating starts with 7 year old Sally wanting the brownie in the deli window. Its starts off young and innocently...with no supervision or control. The thing with food is we eat to live, not live to eat! When young kids, teens, and adults eat healthier meals, exercise every day for more than 45 minutes, and keep junk food far away, everyone can live much happier and less "weighed down"..........
As you can see though in other countries transportation is not a huge issue. Lots of people bike or just walk to their destination. People tend to eat healthier and they understand health is something not to waste. Yes, health is something not to waste....
Another thing is people here in America have higher stress levels, with so much more going on today, its not just let the kids out to play in the yard today, with all this new technology kids want to try the latest computer games and everything else! Teenagers are constantly locked up in their rooms, either talking on the phone or doing Lord only knows.....when people come home from work no one wants to cook dinner, feed the dog, change the litter box, ask all the kids how was your day at school, clean the house, play homework helper......and so on and so on.....so much stress, bad food cravings, and no exercise....so much for the average person....
Some people though, single or whatever, will either of course try an work out five to six times a day aerobics and strength training, eat three balanced healthy meals, and lots of other things to keep healthy and well. Even then though, its hard to keep up being healthy, I mean even people that fit into that category have to keep their weght up, which sometimes you may want to do mentally, but your body dosen't want to do that physically.......so its really tough with anyone basically....
I mean even the skinniest person in the world can look thin and beautiful, but how did she get like that and how does she stay like that? Every day running, pushing, lifting, and sweating to keep that beautiful figure, unless she just dosen't eat and runs all day.
Everyone has different shapes and builds, some people were born naturally thin and some people with a bigger build. Some people became large over time and some people decided to keep their figure up.....however you do it, just think of your health because its very important, unless you just don't care at all.

We drive everywhere, park close to the door, have drive thru EVERYTHING (food, prescriptions, dry cleaning..etc), don't cook anymore, eat convience foods, have buffets, our food portions are outrageous (we like to get our moneys worth), and we rely on a ton of technology to keep us from doing physical labor. Our cities are spread out so far apart that it is almost necessary to drive to the store. We don't have a respect for food and eat so fast that we end up over-eating. Meals are eaten on the go and not enjoyed with family or friends. Schools are decreasing the amounts of physical education. People are obsessed with dieting and yo-yo their weight around. Doctors want to cure diseases (Diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure) with pills instead of sending people to a Registered Dietitian. This causes us Americans to not be motivated enough to change our life styles and not lose weight or eat right. What can be done about it?....Good Question! I think it's strange how much money diet books/fads/pills make in this country...yet we (as Americans) are still overweight. It just shows how poorly these things work for us. Maybe Poland knows how to respect themselves, their bodies, and their health enough to keep themselves into a healthy weight category.

Americans are so fat cause we love to eat! Alot of us it seems like to me, just dont have the time to go to the gym or walks, many of us have to work all the time. And just because someone is overweight doesn't mean they are lazy twits! Some people have medical problems..and cannot control their weight.

I think that we as Americans are pretty lazy people. Plus think of how many fast food joints there are and all the fat and calories that fast food has. Plus I just think we are very spoiled.
I think the Midwest has more obese people than anywhere in the country. It's ridiculous!

So is your question one of concern for obese people or are you just being a jerk by calling them"lazy twits"? I have a feeling there's a reason you don't have a personal photo for your avatar!!! That's okay though, we're not "concerned".

In America, the cheapest foods are the most fattening. In other countries its the other way around. I have been around the world. I have never seen obesity anywhere but the US. My foreign friends say the same thing when they come here.
