I have about a 6 or 7 month old kitten that is picky on what she eats. Her sister can eat about anything we by. However, she has a habit of scraping the food dispenser out and playing with it and not eating the kitten food. I thought she would like meow mix however, what should I try to feed her?

This should be a tuffie ; you cant really
just switch the cat food or else it can mess
up their stomachs & cause diahhrea & stuff .
I suggest buying a few different brands in the
smallest bags you can find of course - maybe
try to get some sample bags from the vet or
local animal shelter & mix it with her current food
& if she starts to eat it then slowly switch it to that
brand. Hope it all works out :)

I don't feed my cats what they "like". I feed them what I feel is good for them and they all eat it without fail. You are training your kitten to be finicky by attempting to cater to her taste.

Meowmix is a truly horrible food. The first ingredient on the label is corn, second corn meal, third poutry by-products (that's heads, feet, feathers, entrails, necks from turkey and chickens.)
So the one that will eat it will be overweight in a year and also starved of nutrition. You are paying $1.07 per pound of nothing nutritious for your kittens. 9 Lives has the same formulation, it is $1.17 a pound. For 50 cents more a pound (at pet discount storewhere the comparison shopping was done) you can get a food whose ingredients read: chicken, chicken meal, brown rice, duck, lamb meal. It is Natural Balance.

I had a picky eater cat once. My suggestion would be to put out three bowls of kitten food at once and see which one he likes. Then just buy that brand.

My cat wouldn't eat any can food with fish or beef, except the can tuna, so I just fed her mostly can chicken. She would only eat Maxi Cat dry food.

So, experiment with different varieties he will know which one he likes.

Purina puts out a natural brand of dry food as well as Nutro kitten food, Maxi Cat and many others that are healthy. You can find better foods at your farm and grain store, pet stores and veteriarians.

Good luck and I know he will find one he likes.

If she is truly hungry she will eat. If you have a lot of animals sometimes they become reclusive and don't eat. You might want to give the kitten its own room or bathroom and put its food in there and close the door so she doesn't have to compete with the others for food.

Sometimes you have to experiment with cat food to find out what your cat likes. Good Luck!
