or are you conned into believing the fable that you are protecting freedom? Does it make your girlfriend cream her pants to see you in a uniform? Do you think you're going to fix the world or are there really no good bush parties (pardon the pun) in your area? Do you think it will be a good drunk in Iraq killing women and children??

Hey Leogirl that's my point. Instead of PROTECTING jobs in their OWN country, they spend 500 billion on a useless war. Of course middle-class signs up you stupid breeder. You think the upper class is going to sign up for some war??!! You dumb-*** blonde. Go back to school. OF COURSE the lower class sign up for the military. The day they graduate there are recruiters there looking to get the students to trade their KFC jobs in for guns... Tell me I don't know how to read??? Go find a black man and bang him while your hubbie kills an Iraqi...

I am sorry Margaret but I believe people such as yourself do not understand what America stands for, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"--the unalienable rights. People such as yourself take all this too lightly and for granted.

I am from a different country and consider myself very fortunate to be able to dwell in this land of opportunity. I wish people like yourself knew much about the other parts of the world and see why some decisions are made the way they are. You cannot and do not get the whole story by going to msn.com and watching the news channel or listening to the news stations here in the US. The media is biased, no matter what they may say. They are biased in showing how wrong it is to go to war and how many American casualties are taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan and other parts of the world. What they conveniently forget is how much good American presence is doing in all those places and how American presence is the only reason the places aren't a complete anarchy after the ungodly governments were toppled and several factions have been struggling to gain power.

Please abandon this anti-patriotic attitude or you may want to try living in one of those countries to make you appreciate and realize everything you take for granted.

God bless America and long live Bush!!!

I signed up in 1961, at that time it was expected that every male serve fours years. In fact they had the draft at that time. I was never sorry I did. I suppose I had to question that a few times in boot camp, but I lived through it. We thought our DI's were sadists, but on thinking back on it it made us better men. I think if every person between 18 and 25 were to go in the service it would be a lot better country. I was in the U.S. Coast Guard by the way. When I got out I was entitled to benefits under the GI Bill of Rights. Now that I am up there in age I get my medical taken care of too. In the Coast Guard we protected our shores, during WWII there were more men killed per capita than any other branch of the service. I am sorry I never killed anyone, so I don't fit your stereotype, of those killing women and children. I did two tours in Antarctica, I went where I was sent. I did my jobs to the best of my ability and I am proud of that. Also I am proud to be an American.

My husband is in the AF and doesn't agree 100% with the war most people don't. The benefits are great. Why not join?

BEFORE YOU GIVE ME A THUMBS DOWN...most people do join for the benefits. We don't get paid too well BUT we have medical, a safe home, and a stable job.

Regardless what people joined for--they are there to do their job. Just like a firefighter who has to put out a fire for a crackhead. They may not want to do it but that's what you have to do to get money which is essential to live in this day and age.

I didn't see you comment until now. No, actually when he went to Iraq I was pregnant. Then I had my son and four months later he came home.

I understand if you don't support the war. I don't support the war. BUT don't take it out on people who are merely doing their jobs. That they get paid for. I bet you work at Tesco ringing groceries all day long. I bet if they said "Hey, we're going to start selling cocaine" you wouldn't quit your job. You wouldn't NOT make money and have security just because you knew you might be doing something wrong.

In my opinion, people join the military for a variety of reasons.
1) Money for college
2) A chance to travel the world (particularly common reason in peacetime)
3) Patriotism--some do believe they are defending freedom, democracy, etc.
4) One theory I heard is that a higher level of testosterone causes the desire to be in an occupation which allows them to be assertive/aggressive (for some, not all, obviously--the same goes for SOME police officers, prison guards, etc.)
5) a family tradition of being in the military

the squaddies could no longer be brokers of the church. That being suggested, the regulation antagonistic to religious expression in Afghanistan is component to why this backwater cesspool is so tousled, so i might want to provide a rip about this kind of regulation on any moral grounds.

Which country are you from? We in this country have the right to say what we want because of our freedoms that were fought for by many individuals. What other country has done so much in just 230 years? GOD BLESS AMERICA and her armed forces!!!!!! I truly feel sorry for you and your ignorance.

does michael moore make you cream your pants? or is it hillary? Rosie O'donnell?

Thanks for supporting the troops dems. Will dems ever hold political power again? or have people become accostomed to their weak national defense policies, hand holding for the terrorists, and wanting terrorists to have rights over the rights of citizens, and those fighting them? And bashing the troops that defend their sorry @$$es?

Why do libs hate the military? Isnt it suicidal to denigrate the military that defends you? unless you are allied with the throatcutters.

I apologize, you were obviously robbed of a much needed Education growing up. As a representative of the Government, I apologize. Perhaps medications will provide a better substitute/alternative?

So you dont think the soldiers defending you are heroes, so who are heroes? are the splodeydopes blowing up buses and cafes? are they heroes to you? are the throatcutters who flew planes into our buildings? are they heroes to you? what about the jihadi who shot the nun in the back? was he a hero?

Erudite is a coward, he supports the throatcutters in iraq over his own nephew joining the military. a traitor, something most dems arent afraid of being called anymore.

My you are an ignorant one aren't you? If you could read I would send you to the web site that shows the demographics of today's soldiers. The majority are from middle to upper middle income families. But since you are too stupid to read, you will need to take my word for it. I hope my words weren't too big for your little brain to understand.

Who are you to criticize the choices of another... do you write messages like this because you are a coward, afraid to stand up for what you believe in and because you have no balls?

I'm a veteran and married to a soldier...if you've never been in the military, you have no clue...Thanks to all the Men and Women serving our country, without whom we'd have no country!
